As we enter the New Year remember fear of making bad art is holding you back. Fear of people not liking your work is holding you back. Rejection is holding you back

You'll make bad art, you'll have people not like your work, and you'll be rejected. Moving past it is half the job of being a creative

Every time you use AI slop in your game, even as a placeholder, even if it's supposed to be temporary, you're helping to destroy the video game industry little by little.

It's fascinating to read this and then be able to accurately pinpoint exactly when OP was on Deviantart. Ironically when clubs were introduced was when a lot of us were already starting to leave and feel like it was starting to go to shit!

I think we all knew this was eventually going to come up regarding VPNs but it still burns my biscuits that the solution politicians have landed on is just "remove privacy for everyone"

Lawmakers Want to Ban VPNs—And They Have No Idea What They're Doing
It's unfortunately no longer enough to force websites to check your government-issued ID before you can access certain content, because politicians have now discovered that people are using Virtual Pr...

When the AI boom began, copywriters were singled out as one of the jobs most vulnerable to AI. Now, three years later, I wanted to hear from workers on the frontlines of the industry, to hear what had actually taken place on the ground.

For many, it was even worse than they'd feared.
"I was forced to use AI until the day I was laid off." Copywriters reveal how AI has decimated their industry
Copywriters were one of the first to have their jobs targeted by AI firms. These are their stories, three years into the AI era.

Protection features bsky has:

NUCLEAR BLOCK- neither of you can see each other's posts, you no longer exist to each other)

DETACH QUOTES- if someone quotes your post with something you don't like you can "detatch" your original post and it appears blank under their quote

It's always the people who think their job isn't the one affected by this saying it doesn't matter. I'm a concept artist and illustrator ans this is one of my most important battles and one of my biggest fires

MIT’s NANDA initiative found that 95% of generative AI deployments fail after interviewing 150 execs, surveying 350 workers, and analyzing 300 projects. The real “productivity gains” seem to come from layoffs and squeezing more work from fewer people not AI.
MIT report: 95% of generative AI pilots at companies are failing
There’s a stark difference in success rates between companies that purchase AI tools from vendors and those that build them internally.

Don't hate Al so much that you lash out at and refuse to support actual artists out of fear that they're secretly using Al.

Love art so much that you hate Al by extension. Don't hate Al so much that you stop loving art by extension.

I know in my logical brain that my worth as a person should not be tied to the work I put out but my nervous Chihuahua emotional brain trembles under the pressure of "someone criticizes the story I'm telling/how I tell it = this is criticism of me as a person" and that's hard to separate lol
Found this on the AO3 subreddit, and I'm about to let it change my whole life (or at least work really hard to internalize it wrt my writing).

For further context twitter added a button that allows users to generate ai images using existing art posts from artists. It removes glaze and it basically reskins the artwork by using the existing work as a base. Twitter is no longer a safe space for art
