Anyone who’s ever actually spoken to a single asylum seeker about their experiences in any country in Europe simply could not honestly conclude that what would improve things would be to further reduce their human rights protections.

It’s vile scapegoating unworthy of us & it needs to end #r4today

I am currently, because I know how to enjoy a Saturday morning, writing some guidance for people on filling this consultation in. As I do several things are highly apparent. Before I go through them though I don't want this to put people off of filling it in. It is important to do so nonetheless. 1/
Government has today published its consultation into "earned settlement", the forward alone contains a hot mess of misrepresentation of the current system by the Home Secretary. I would strongly urge anyone affected by the current system to respond.

A powerful speech by Ahmed al-Sharaa that reminded us that the oppressed and tormented Syrian people, after years of suffering under the Assad regime, whose barrel bombs were no different from the 2,000-pound bombs dropped by Israel on the neighborhoods and refugee camps in Gaza, have finally won.

Pu keeps saying it but many in the West refuse to hear him and stick to the fantasy of a negotiated settlement: He does NOT want to end the war at the status quo. He'll negotiate only Ukr's diplomatic surrender. If it doesn't work, he chooses to continue trying to achieve capitulation militarily.
NEW: Putin rejected Trump's call for a quick peace in Ukraine during a phone call on July 3.

Putin's stated commitment to his goals in Ukraine, including eliminating the so-called "root causes" of the war, contradicts his claim that Russia supports meaningful negotiations. isw.pub/UkrWar070325

Per reporting by my colleague @olliecarroll.bsky.social, US has cancelled 8,000-ish 155mm shells for Ukraine. That is 20% of current MONTHLY production. How that would have materially affected US readiness is hard to see. That's before getting onto 25 Stingers & 92 AIM-7, which are being phased out

This is Tetiana Kobryna, animal activist. She and her 28 year old son Pavlo were killed by a Russian drone yesterday in Kyiv. Five rescue cats were killed, as well.

Tetiana treated and fed homeless animals with her own money. Ten more cats lived under her care at her apartment.

RIP, Tetiana.

This is a terrible terrible destructive decision.
These sorts of long running research programmes take decades to build and their insights accumulate over decades too - the longer they run, the more valuable they become.

This is knowledge vandalism. Nothing new and shiny can replace it.
Well the NIH has cancelled the Women's Health Initiative, the largest study of women in history

It has been running continuously since 1991 and has provided massive key knowledge about diseases in women
