1. You feel powerless? Don’t know what you can do to resist the rise of fascism?
Here is an answer: Good Things.
Fascism inflicts pain and harm as a matter of doctrine.
Kindness, care and conviviality defend us from it.
The more we build community, the less it can take root.

Will go on until midnight tonight. Get on it!

I was inspired to do a little something, based on a comment @prisonculture.bsky.social made earlier this week, and put together this flyer with federal policy actions that happened this week. I hope people find this useful!

Trump’s first 3 weeks have been a relentless flood of actions. It's incredibly hard to keep up.

I voted for Sen. Alsobrooks in Nov. She voted YES to confirm Sean Duffy for Transportation Secretary, but today she told RFK Jr. to his face that she will vote NO on his confirmation. ALL Dem senators should vote NO on all of DT's shitty picks! Call your senators and tell them to VOTE NO!
Bravo to Sen. Alsobrooks for her question.

“We should not be giving Black people the same vaccine schedule as Whites because their immune system is better than ours.” — RFK Jr

This is the deadlier version of the racist myth that Black people feel less pain, leading to denied pain meds.

If you can go, go. 5pm today. Last night's cutoff of federal funding by 47 doesn't just mess with the recipients, it violates the Constitution and seizes powers that belong to Congress. It's a dictatorial attempt at consolidation of power in the presidency.

I'll add, for anyone (like me) with social anxiety, esp. around the phone: they don't argue with you! They listen and record your comment. If they agree they will probably reassure you! If they don't, they just log you and you hang up. That's it. We can do this. ❤️👊
It is very easy to call your representatives’ offices. They have to log your calls and the call numbers are meaningful. You don’t even have to try to convince anyone; just call and tell them your concerns. They are there to represent you. Let them know what that means. www.usa.gov/elected-offi...

For every executive order, bill or funding cut that targets marginalized people, let’s counter with an act of kindness.

Cut SNAP funding? Give to a community fridge

Cut PrEP funding? Give to AIDS organizations.

Mask bans? Wear a mask!

Attacks on trans rights? Amplify trans creators.

If you’re in an institution doing any kind of DEI work, the most important thing to do right now is simply call it something else. Change it to “Community Outreach” & then keep on doing the same important work. When they outlaw Community Outreach rebrand it as “Strategic Partnerships,” rinse/repeat.
January 25, 2025 at 4:14 PM
Amen.
It is not the point of you to “scale.” You are not at scale.

If you are able to do something that helps one person, you helped one person, and that is more than there were before. If you are part of a community that helps people, you are contributing to helping people at scale.
