Once again the taxpayers lose due to financial engineering.
It's unbelievable that carers who work a few extra hours are hounded, but those with lawyers and accountants can evade the law.
The financial services industry should be regulated so that this doesn't happen again.

Spain’s socialist-led government is to launch a national public transport pass that will allow people to travel anywhere in the country by bus or train for a flat monthly fee of €60 (£52.70).
The prime minister, Pedro Sánchez, unveiled the initiative on Monday, saying it would come into effect in the second half of January and was intended “to change the way Spaniards understand and use public transport for ever”. Continue reading...

BBC News is also a good example. Historically technocratic, sees the world is changing, attempts to compensate through bothsidesism (effectively procedural populism), fails to please anyone and in so doing compromises its essential quality (technocracy).
Combine those various factors and you get the current Labour government and its weird mix of economic and social policies and at the same time its apparent inability to make progress / do better.

Im already contributing by having my wages suppressed for 2 decades. Take it from those who have deliberately suppressed my wages in order to give themselves more, the finance industry whom WE bailed out, the employers who WE gave furlough money too, the CEO who have taken assets instead of wages!
