Personal account that does not represent any government or departmental policies. The bad takes are all my own, but I'm trying to get educated by just watching and listening to those who live their truths daily.

I always say how I never had a mentor to help me figure out how to be a journalist, but I do have a hero. This woman, who needs know introduction, Marley Shebala, who is probably the best Native journalist ever! She’s a trailblazer. But she has fallen on hard times like many

I have already ended up in a argument today with someone saying I shouldn't assume it was a far-right fire attack on an IPAS centre (following a number of far-right fire attacks on IPAS centres) because it was probably "kids messing with fireworks" so this is worth hammering home I think

Every now and then, I remember one of the events we went through during the genocide
and I sit there asking myself, did that really happen to us?
How did we keep going?
And how did the world just keep going too?

November is Native American Heritage Month, and I’m honored to represent a state with such a rich history influenced by indigenous communities. Arizona’s 22 federally-recognized tribes each bring unique contributions to our culture, and our state wouldn’t be the same without them.

The massacres stopped after 14 hours we survived again, though I no longer know how many times. I lost count long ago.

It’s two in the morning. My sister screams a missile missed us this time, but hit our neighbors’ tent.

Great article about the amazing Palestinian robotics team. For years my dream as a filmmaker was to portray Palestinians unrelated to war and occupation, but I was never allowed to do it. I'm always so happy when journalists tell these stories instead. Thank you Ben.
Next week, 5 teens from Palestine will head to Panama to compete in one of the world’s largest youth robotics competitions.

The goal? To win—and teach STEM to their peers displaced by Israel's war and occupation of Palestine.

Research should inform policy but that’s tricky if it is almost entirely driven by policy. The independence of research is key to change because if you fund only research that responds to policy (even good policy) you’re less innovative, creative & responsive to the open options of the future.
