I guess I must be staying on Bluesky since I'm actually putting some work into my profile. I found this pic on the badsite and had it printed and hung in my office, and it seems like a good profile picture as well, and it explains the origin of my Bluesky handle.

Democrats win in 2028 if they pledge to pass a law that prohibits companies from sending a “Your order has shipped!” email when all they’ve done is created a shipping label

Just spitballing here, but I think we could sell ppl on universal healthcare not by pointing out how much money they'll save but by how much time they'll save not getting stuck in line at the pharmacy behind people dealing with shitty insurance companies. Three people ahead of me, all had problems.

Barbara Stanwyck double feature at @musicboxtheatre.bsky.social

Both of these were so much fun. More brassy dames serving looks in 2026 please!

You know what's a fun activity? Picking random movies off your letterboxd watch list that aren't on streaming and putting them on hold at the library. Now when they get here in a week, it will be a little surprise.

Got Barry Lyndon on Blu-ray from the library. It gets lost behind The Shining, 2001, Clockwork Orange, and Eyes Wide Shut, Strangelove, etc. in talking about Kubrick's filmography, but SO MANY people on letterboxd say this is either one of his best or one of their personal faves, so here I go...

The Avatar movies are not for me. And it used to bother me that a movie I found pretty eh had such legs, but maturity has taught me both 1) let people like what they like and 2) making one of these every three to five years is actually the best use of Cameron's wealth.

The effortless shift in discourse from people insisting that anything that isn't a white statue of a dead roman dude isn't art like 3 years ago to demanding that they be treated as visionary artists for typing" x-men mystique big boobs she's my girlfriend" into a prompt window

For fun, I asked it to list all the characters from A Little Night Music and their songs. It said that Carl-Magnus sings "The Miller's Son." That is so, so wrong, but dear lord, now I want to see that so, so badly.
Some of us have been advocating this going back since chatGPT launched. It also has other benefits: correcting someone else's work is actually a really good way to learn something yourself.

A poem:

I do not want to go to the gym today.

I want to have already gone to the gym today.

Stupid, continuous, unidirectional nature of time.

He'll forget the minute Mamdani leaves the room. All of his other personality traits are that of a toddler, so I assume he has the same object permanence.

But for right now this is truly hilarious. This is like the one part of this timeline I would be sad to only read about and not to witness.
"Trump is a fucking idiot who gets rolled by anyone who's nice to him" theory remains undefeated, putting someone like Mamdani in there is like having Randy Johnson sub in for a 5th grade Little League game
Q: Stefanik has called Mamdani a 'jihadist.' Do you think you're standing next to a jihadist right now?

TRUMP: No, I don't. I met with a man who's a very rational person

One day people will remember that separation of church and state protects the church probably more than the state. These bozos never realize that if church and state are the same entity then whoever becomes head of state is head of your church and if you don't like it, surprise you're a heretic.

This right here, this exact sentence, is THE problem in American political journalism.

The IRA *was* cheap energy and good jobs! That was the whole bill! Democrats did precisely what political pundits are telling them to do and the pundits just ignore it.
