Sen. Van Hollen: "I don't think it's ever wrong to fight for the constitutional rights of one person because if we give up on one person's rights, we threaten everybody's rights...Anyone who is not prepared to stand up and fight for the Constitution doesn't deserve to lead."

Got a printer? You can start fighting fascism. Here's a thread of things you can print and distribute. 👇

I promise doing something--even this--feels better than raging silently. And maybe it'll show you that standing up is possible and open you up to more things you can do.

There’s something happening in this country.
Teachers teach. We need a leaderful movement, and there are leaders all around us.

This validates my belief that the vast majority of Americans do not understand how many federal programs they rely upon in their daily lives. They literally do not put 2+2 together. They think the money comes from some magical virtue spigot.
Here’s the thing. Every one of these people in tears heard Trump on the stump before Nov. They knew he was cruel. But they were fine with it, thinking he’d only hurt the people they didn’t like. The problem with cruelty—It spreads. You don’t get to control it. Sooner or later, it comes for you too.

First step is to finally and at last bar all members of insurrection parties from holding office as the constitution demands.
Government services will be gutted without any regard for the law, but if there are efforts down the line to repair the damage (which will be extensive and EXPENSIVE), you can bet congressional authorization will be a barrier. Assuming we get that far.

"Gulf of America" is just a loyalty test. It's a way of checking who is going to abrogate reality for no reason other than a cowardly refusal to stand up to the bully or an opportunistic willingness to toady up to one. Anyone who will call it that will help you round people up or look the other way.

If your boss or company tells you to do something unethical: don't say yes. Make them write it down.
If they won't put it in writing yourself. Send an email (bcc yourself?): "Following our conversation on x date at x time regarding x, I am writing to clarify your directives. According to my notes, you instructed me to A, B, and C. If any of this is incorrect, please advise. I have some concerns."

The single most important skill to master in storytelling is knowing when to reveal information to the audience. Before it is relevant/immediately when it is relevant/or after it is relevant - all three times presents a very different story experience to the audience. Always ask when we should know.

More time writing or doing things you love, less time online. You don't have to put your head in the sand (and shouldn't) but you also don't need to doomscroll for the next thirty minutes waiting for the next Liam Nissan dunk. And if you find yourself with EXTRA time, donate it. Charities need you.
If you have any advice for decent Americans/the world concerning how to survive the next 4+ years in a decent way, please tell us NOW.

Any elected Democrat who looks at the events of the day and communicates “We’ll find ways to work with this” and not “We’re going to fight this” needs to go. I get that they will have to work with it on some practical level, but when Trump is in shock and awe mode, meet the damn moment.
