Whatever else I might say about them, Nigeria, Rwanda, Uganda, and Somalia all have long standing and mostly warm relationships with the United States. Nigeria and Cote D’Ivoire are keystones in West Africa. All of this is incoherent from a strategic standpoint (because this isn’t about strategy).

The fandom part of my circle of awareness is equal parts delighted this is mainstream, grumpy because they were into hockey rpf before it was cool, or annoyed that some of their favourite fanfic writers have abandoned whatever they were doing before and are now doing fanfic of this. 😂
It's hockey because a few prominent One Direction fanfiction authors were big hockey fans, so when One Direction broke up those authors started writing hockey rpf for a bit, which meant gay hockey rpf took off before any other sport and this pattern followed into traditional publishing.
