It’s dead simple: build this bridge, pull traffic out of DT; preserve Alexandra Bridge for active transport and restore for future trams; enact plan for restoration/replacement of others. See article bit.ly/45PIKCE

Hey Ontario, listen to England, the only place I’m aware of that has privatized their water supply. If you roamed the streets you could not find a supporter of this policy. Don’t let Doug Ford do this for his wedding guests. IYKYK.
Bill increases of nearly a third for millions of ordinary people have helped Thames Water's profits soar to over £400 million. Foreign hedge fund lenders want more power to pollute our waters and raise our bills. Privatised water is a scam. Let's bring it back into public hands.

I just got back from Victoria, BC. A city I visit often. I'm always impressed by how many people commute by bike there. And it's not an accident, the city has invested in an amazing biking infrastructure that other North American cities could learn from: youtu.be/FKMDMekErQ0

The ANCHOR program will get an additional $700,000 to expand to half of Kitchissippi. Other neighbourhoods are begging for it. It would be a far better use for $1 million.
Giving $1 million of city money to pay for private security in the Byward Market is outrageous. All it will do is displace more unwell people into Centretown and surrounding communities. And announcing this at a press conference before consulting council? Not cool.

The intention to make this change was announced in September, but the regulation was just published. The fact that they went through with it after signing the MOU is a big FU to the federal government (who will likely let them get away with it)

Even a rumor of a fare increase was political dynamite.

In some places, the Yule log was taken out of the fireplace and thrown over the saddle of the roof of a home to ensure the safety of the home from fire in the coming year.
The tradition of the Yule log became less common after the 1870s.

@mayormarksutcliffe.bsky.social promised to provide balance in transport policy.
Doug Ford has just tipped that balance towards cars and against active transport.
Mayor Sutcliffe, what are your ideas to restore the balance you promised?

Bill 60 means that we will not be able to add cycle tracks to Albert and Slater Street or extend the O’Connor bike lane to Wellington Street. It’s an absurd overreach by the Ford government that will make all road users less safe and waste millions. I hate it here.

A bad day for Canada, and therefore the world.

Ontario (population 16 million, 40% of the country) has passed new legislation prohibiting bike lanes that take a lane from cars.

An escalation from Bill 212, which required municipalities to get approval.
A sad day for cyclists. Bill 60 - which prohibits the conversion of motor vehicle lanes to bike lanes (or any other prescribed purpose) - has passed Third Reading this morning which will kill various cycling projects in Toronto & across Ontario. #shame #BikeTO #BikeSky #TOpoli #ONpoli #VisionZero

OC Transpos projected budget is like $930M this year. It'd also cost about $1M to bring back 5m Line 1 headways during off-peak. $2M to notably make the service better. This is the City of nickle-and-diming things we need, while handing developers $500M because said businessmen suck at business.

Why are some speed cameras staying up following provincial ban?
While speed cameras were banned in Ontario starting Nov. 14, some areas are not removing the devices just yet but instead, are using them to collect data. Waterloo Region is one of them.
