I agree, and while we're at it, the renaming is not only illegal (Congress named it, Public Law 88-260), the perpetrators have committed multiple crimes against graphic design and the English language with "The Donald J. Trump and The John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts."

I wonder how Trump's estate will be handled. Does the gold toilet get auctioned off or does it belong in a museum? Hard to say.

I think he can argue the potential reputational harm from the association is a fundamental change of the contract (i.e., he would not gave agreed to it). Trump is a convicted felon. I think it’s a fair argument if someone, say, did not want to perform at the Ted Bundy Center for the Arts

Seems like a great way to force a court to rule on the illegal name change.
To recap:
*The Trump administration illegally renamed the Kennedy Center. They broke the law.
*Now they are suing a guy who refused to perform because of the name change for $1 million.

I just taught my lecture course on mid-20th c US history, which starts with Harding and concludes with Nixon.

For the first time, I had to pause and stress that those scandals were actually shocking at the time and, what’s more, that Americans actually demanded people be held accountable.
All of the money that changed hands in the Teapot Dome scandal totaled less than $10 million after adjusting for inflation, and it was considered so corrupt we still teach it in high school government classes a century later.
Corruption so pungent, it wafts right off the page:

Lobbyists who do pardon deals “say their going rate is $1 million. Pardon-seekers have offered some lobbyists close to the president success fees of as much as $6 million if they can close the deal.”

At this point, I hope we learn that Trump really has been blackmailing A.G. Sulzberger the XXVI all this time, because if that failgreatgrandson has been kissing his ass like this on his own free will it’s going to be depressing as hell.
This is how the New York Times sums up Trump’s term so far.

I’m just going to expire from unrequited rage.
It’s very very frustrating to know that there isn’t much chance of any accountability for this behavior after Trump

I’m truly heartened by the array of people who got The Onion as a present this year. We got teens, we got dads, and this year we cracked the coveted Wacky Girlfriend demo.

Thank you to everyone who gifted a paper today. We really are gonna have more print subscribers than the Washington Post, huh?

Newly discovered recordings show how far Donald Trump went to attempt overturning the 2020 presidential election results in Georgia.

Trump told the Speaker he could call the session “for transparency, and to uncover fraud,” adding, “Who’s gonna stop you for that?” trib.al/Yk7Lyb5
