Writes about prose-y books and picture-y books. Might actually be one of those Arcimboldo things where it's just a pile of fresh produce arranged like a face.
This is pertinent to my ongoing project.
#OtD 28 Dec 1907 10k households in New York City went on rent strike against price hikes. Sparked by 16-year-old textile worker, Pauline Newman, who enlisted other young working women and girls. Life hack: If you like to wrap things, you can buy wrapping paper and wrap any object at any time. Wrap your groceries. Wrap the toilet. Wrap the dog. You don't have to wait for a "holiday" and turn it into a whole weird thing.

You don't have no presents
He'll get you some
You don't have no stockings
He'll fill you one
You don't have no Christmas cheer
You feel like a reindeer
Hey buddy I'm warning you not to pout

Plates of warm cookies in his red right hand

A bit of clarity here, from the article itself: the instructor was a graduate TA, not a full professor; it was a 650-word response that was worth 3% of her grade, getting a 0 on it should not have been failing for the course. These points are important to see how politically motivated this was.

Here's another one: Writers, go read this book because it will remind you of everything that's possible with storytelling. You never know what's coming next and how she fills in the story is downright liberating to experience--especially if you're still unlearning your college writing classes.
I've been so stonkingly grateful for some of the reviews/responses my novel Lessons in Magic and Disaster has gotten this past week! 🧵

The banned 60 Minutes episode about the CECOT torture prison used by the Trump admin is now exploding across the internet. Be sure to watch so you can see the excellent reporting done by Sharyn Alfonsi & her team at 60 Minutes:
And now someone has uploaded a version that wasn't filmed off a TV.

There's also the torrent link there, which is probably the fastest way to download the 60 Minutes segment on CECOT if you want to save the file locally to your computer.

NEW: Organ tuners have been leaving temperature and humidity records in little-known books for decades. 🎹

They reveal how temperatures inside churches have changed over time due to climate change and increased heating.

Yearly reminder that Coke had nothing to do with creating the modern image of Santa Claus.
It's a common myth that Santa Claus's red and white costume was created by Coca-Cola to match their cans, and Coca-Cola has promoted this myth.

Coca-Cola's first Santa Claus advertisement was in 1931. This St. Nicholas Xmas Book is from 1906.
