the difference between billionaire men and working class men is not that one has the power to rape without consequences and the other doesn’t, it’s that one has the power to mass rape while the other is restricted to lower class women, homeless children, his own children, his own wife
This is just the leftist version of the myth that all rapists are strangers in dark alleys, rather than relatives, fathers, boyfriends and so on.
All rich people (not just billionaires) shouldn't exist because capitalists shouldn't exist, whereas abolishing CSA implies destroying the POWER OF MEN!
The Epstein emails should really end the debate over whether society should have billionaires. "Do you want there to be a class of people so powerful they can fuck your kids and no one will even try to do anything" seems like an easy sell if everyone in politics wasn't trying to get on their payroll

Look: Capitalism allows a few people to concentrate power and wealth to the extent that even ONE of them hating his trans kid has the potential to ruin millions of lives. That's terrifying. But patriarchy, which teaches sexual violence as an expression of power, is not exclusive to billionaires.

It's really frustrating, as someone who's written about sexual violence for two decades -- always being dismissed as too sensitive, as selfish, as not "really" political -- to have a set of documents which truly show how rape culture runs our world, and ONLY have it parsed as a comment on class.

There are lots of cases of people, mainly men, who aren’t particularly intelligent or capable but benefit from the existence of rape and abuse culture simply because they recognize you can

The fetishization and abuse of girls and young women is just as normalized today as it was when Epstein got started. Look no further than the culture of exploiting child stars, who today are predominantly online influencers, followed by shaming and blaming them for their sexuality as young adults

right like it seriously needs to be reiterated a billion times that the incidents here aren't conspiratorially unique but a machinic form of patriarchal violence and violation that occurs in fractals and scales at all levels of society. sexual abuse is the glue of structures of exploitation
I need people to understand that it’s not just Epstein, it’s the entire rape culture that existed before and after him at every socioeconomic level. That’s why Epstein, who I’ve never thought was particularly smart or interesting, was able to pull this all off—he recognized how abuse functions

I honestly think the direct line between misogyny and fascism is undersold. It is THE big factor - as soon as one race/class/group is masculinized and another is feminized in an ideology, it leads to fascism.

Okay so the only problem with metoo was it didnt go far enough, in light of the file drop
Though tbh now i think a lot of the stuff that people claimed was too far especially what was associated with MeToo now seems super reasonable as the MeToo reaction explicitly morphs into a pro-rape and pro-harassment faction

the criticism of MeToo is so often a terrible amalgam of "women exaggerate the harms" and "it's just men's nature, what can we do?"
I keep thinking again, in light of the latest Epstein files dump, about how MeToo “went too far.”

And one of the first survivors to step forward to try to stop Epstein? A trans woman, who was promptly mocked and villified by the New York Post, New York Magazine, the courts and law enforcement.

Something like a society-wide rule of those who aspire to exercise the power a father has over his wife and progeny... wonder if there's a succinct name for the idea...

anyway how does 30 more years of saying gender isn't material and ubiquitous and an important lens of analysis sound

the trafficking of women is inextricable from capital. misogyny is its glue. the extreme reluctance by male chauvinist leftists to build a cohesive politics that fights misogyny & unifies feminist and queer/trans lib. is literally doing the pater-bourgeois' work for them here

It’s called Femicide

my spicy take is that the media you like to engage with doesn't necessarily say anything deeper or hidden about your relationship to gender or sexuality but the media you *do not* does a little bit
