one thing that is important to know is that BIRTH OF A NATION is so racist that people at the *time*, in 1915, were like, “holy shit this is racist”
When the slightest bit of research shows he was consistently racist and a daddy issues Confederate fanboy.

People try to paint BIRTH OF A NATION as a masterpiece with some unfortunate racism. The whole movie is racist, the “masterpiece “ thing was backfilled to excuse it.

Eliminating this part of the process of creating some kind of artistic piece/project is extremely shortsighted. So much discovery that makes the art great comes from this crucial step. Much like all the things we have in modern times, this will only make things more homogenized/throw away/boring ect
placeholder art is supposed to look like this. you're supposed to make it in 5 seconds.

it's a crucial part of the process because a placeholder will often be remarkably similar to the final art/text, because you were unburdened by bigger details when you made it.

Using gen ai for text and asset placeholders is not solving a problem; games have been made for decades with regular placeholders. studios using AI this way are just testing the water to see what more they can get away with - which will inevitably mean laying off skilled workers, to make worse games

it's a gloomy and cold day and I've done the thing where I've started trying to reorganize and tidy and have stopped at the part where it's messier than when I started 🥲

yes I am still thinking about the car that flashed it's lights at me repeatedly while I was going the exact speed limit in the right lane and then passed me aggressively only to have to drop down to the same speed I was going because... I was basically pacing the person in front of me.

I did two long road trips last month and I swear to god a bunch of the public seem to not realize you can just slow down to change lanes, and thus get stuck in ridiculous situations.

(eg. speeding up to pass and then immediately having to slow down because there was traffic ahead)
tbf I haven’t driven in years but I do not remember exceeding the speed limit every time I had to change lanes?

I think when someone flashes their lights at a car going the literal speed limit in the rightmost lane of a highway their car should explode.

gonna take a walk today hopefully causing a chain of events that will get me back to the gym this week because it's been almost two weeks since I've been. but also I'm pretty sure the stress of work, long days, and sleeping in when I get a chance probably means I'm narrowing avoiding getting sick rn

So this is a thing you'll see a lot about immigration. The process is incredibly slow, the systems are overworked. If you have applied you will overstay before your decision is made. The system is designed such that you will be breaking the law, by their own design. This is arguably on purpose.
They overstayed their visas. That's not remotely a legal way.

I once asked a bookseller at a large indie store how many people would have to buy a book for it to get the attention of the store buyer and cause an additional order and they said: Three.
I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

I really don’t understand why it’s so hard for certain people to understand that Mamdani is doing so well because he is advocating for more than “keep Trump from taking the few good and/or semi-decent things that remain” and is articulating a real vision for how to make New York better.

This isn’t even the first time it would happen - you can literally just go back to when Eric Adams first ran for mayor, and when he got into office, to see how the media manufactured a crime wave that helped push his pro-police agenda at the expense of every other city service.
