People won't help but look at the game like any kart racer because it's basically their only comparison point, and that's normal.
And then they find out it does the entire opposite of everything they knew and don't get the point immediately. And if you try to look deeper it gets REAL DEEP.

It's about how you will absolutely not be in full control at all times and learn how to process that. Many consider the lack of "control" as a game design problem without realizing the game (even the original) did many invisible things to counter that.

I want to write an explainer for Kirby Air Riders in simpler terms because most people struggle to explain the game, but here's a taste of how I can describe it:

Kirby Air Riders is about how you can make the most out of a stick and a single button that does everything.

Stuff like this makes it obvious the current AAA model isn’t really sustainable.
Naughty Dog going from four games on the PS3 to none on PS5 is so funny dude

“What if we added roguelike elements…” the devs say, as I let out a deep sigh.
liking game genres that spawned from the arcades condemns you to forever suffer cuz no one outside of the bubble gets it and every developer wants to the appeal to the guy who doesn't get it

I think it’s so cool how every Analogue console has ten different hoops you have to jump through in order to get it to play ROMs.

“[…] This double standard suggests Steam does not treat games as art on par with film, and intervenes with censorship when an artistic vision does not align with what the platform owner considers acceptable art.” Steam’s ban of HORSES is extremely worrying for devs like us. Read, Share, Buy HORSES!
Our upcoming game HORSES was preemptively banned from Steam, with no path to appeal. The game will still launch next week on December 2nd and will be available on EGS, GOG, Humble, and Itch for $4.99. Here is a detailed FAQ covering what happened: horses.wtf/BannedFromSt...

I feel like it is culturally important to note that I recently played an old episode of the Simpsons on Disney+ for some kids and then a random newer episode and the kids, unprompted, were like “how come this isn’t as funny?” so it’s not just nostalgia we are correct

In the original arcade version of Final Fight, there's a third button whose function is to escape grabs. It's not wired by default in arcade machines, but was left in the game code and can be accessed via emulation. Here, I tested it via MiSTerFPGA. It was probably used by the devs during QA.

Any one of these massive AAA videogame companies could file suit against the 6-piece Chicken McNobody ringleaders harassing their employees, and that they don't is a choice. I said before of goobergate that the industry enjoys having a bunch of unpaid Pinkertons around too much to ever give it up.

Indie devs should just start slapping a big banner or something on their Steam page, etc. that says “this game was made by humans and absolutely no AI tools were used.”

I genuinely think it will pay off more and more.
