Even if the Venezuelan regime change was legal, which its not, the US’s record of intervention in Latin America leads me to believe this effort will not lead to a democratic or prosperous Venezuela. The common results of US-backed regime change have included: authoritarian regime, persistent income

“We cannot keep people safe without changing the status quo, and the status quo is built on prioritizing speed and convenience over human life. Denver cannot have it both ways.

…How many lives is Denver willing to sacrifice to preserve driver convenience?”
Sacrificing Convenience for Safety Is the Right Thing to Do
So far in 2025, Denver has lost 87 people to traffic accidents...and counting.

San Francisco just upzoned the Sunset, the Richmond, North Point, and a bunch of the Marina. I truly never thought I'd see the day. Huge congratulations to the local activists at @sfyimby.bsky.social who worked so hard to make this happen.

Why is there a ceiling for data analyst career ladders?

In software engineering there is a concept of a “staff+ “ role that is still an independent contributor, but isn’t on the people management track.

Data Engineering and to an extent analytics engineering have this type of role.

The problem with blocking expensive new “luxury” housing is that (a) it does nothing help poor people get homes, and (b) the rich people don’t disappear when the fancy condo building isn’t built—they just buy and renovate the best available existing homes.
"no one should make a profit building necessary housing" is one of those things that sounds based and radical... for like half a second, before you finish thinking it through

The Trump administration’s invasion of U.S. cities and America’s collective shrug speaks to what a weak position our cities have put themselves in by walling themselves off and repelling the U.S.-born lower and middle classes. We’re turning away friends that we need.
