NEW: It appears billionaire Bill Ackman has donated $10k to a GoFundMe for Jonathan Ross, the ICE agent who killed Renee Good.

Ackman has reposted the fundraiser but hasn’t posted about his own donation.

The oil reserves are possibly exaggerated, the oil is low quality, the infrastructure is outdated and in disrepair, and there's no guarantee of future political and economic stability. Other than that... ICYMI @crampell.bsky.social: lnk.thebulwark.com/3N6ML1T

Twitter is the world’s largest generator of CSAM & non-consensual porn by a margin of about 8000%, and somehow… MSM isn’t even reporting on it.

(also includes advice for reporting ‘deepfake harassment’ to police if it escalates to a point where restraining order is necessary)

RIP Bob Weir.

I got to see the Dead & Company at Rothbury Music Festival in 2009. I've always been a huge grateful dead fan, and was sad to have been born too late to see Jerry Garcia play.

But their music has had a huge impact on my life.

Fare thee well now.

A march that drew thousands in Minneapolis has ended. Protesters called for justice for Renee Good, the woman shot and killed by ICE agent Jonathan Ross. They also demanded ICE leave the city.

Spitballing, but: To what extent is it plausible that police, and police unions, have captured local and/or state political power to the point where they can't really be effectively contested and nobody wants to admit it? I assume the answer isn't "totally" but also isn't "not at all"

it is impossible for mayors or cops to learn positive lessons about protest response because they all have two immovable beliefs:

1. it is evil and childish to hold police officers accountable for violent acts

2. cops must be present at all times during protests
The lesson Frey and Walz were supposed to learn in 2020 was that sending riot police to a peaceful protest creates a confrontation that results in some dipshit cops shooting people in the eye with a gas canister which then we have to goddamn pay for in settlements while also our city burns.

I would never accuse the Iraqi Army of being well trained or using a lot of restraint. And yet in Mosul I came to expect more discretion from the average Iraqi soldier than U.S. cops who have never taken incoming fire.
not for the first time I note these guys pulling shit that would have gotten you extremely killed in any actual insurgency situation

They'll always protect property over people.
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey says 29 people were arrested in downtown last night during a noise demonstration at a hotel reportedly housing ICE agents: "For those that are taking the bait and causing property damage or otherwise, there are consequences. We're holding the line here all the way."

It should be bigger news that masked agents were filmed hours ago removing potentially inculpatory evidence from the ICE shooter's house, clearly lacking evidence tags or chain of custody stickers.

Before we have word on whether he underwent a toxicology screen at the hospital following the killing

Conservatives have so throughly dehumanized anyone not like them that they really are just out here cheering on the extrajudicial murder of an American citizen too. She’s just a queer liberal woman, all reasons she’s not really human, so of course she was fine for her to be murdered by the state.

Interesting how the Trump admin blocks local officials from investigating and then the clip from the shooter’s phone somehow gets to a right-wing outlet and then a bunch of right-wing politicians immediately boost it to try shaping the narrative of what it shows. Just interesting
