One thing that really annoyed me when MeToo kicked off within Hollywood was all the people saying haha, directors can do anything. Please listen to teen girls who worked fast food jobs & mall chain stores, played sports, went to church, joined drama clubs - any place men could have power over girls.
Power is relative. The "powerful elite" can be members of your local church. Boosters & coaches for your local team. Frat houses. If we listened to girls long ago instead of men & how they choose to frame sexual abuse as individualized, anomalies, we wouldn't keep being shocked.
