I liked the era of Taco Bell advertising that showed their food at a party full of trendy young hipsters excitedly passing it around, laughing, and taking pictures of one another holding tacos as opposed to how it’s typically consumed; alone in a bedroom with a YouTube video on in the background

Independent bookstores are donating to food banks and organizations that help with food insecurity.

They are not the same.

Their performative disappointment is the easiest way they can farm victimhood points. Every single one of these type of shitbags just levels by killing level 0 nothings in the beginner zone until they can spend all their points on either a podcast, a show on fox news, or a Ram 2500.

Happy Oct. NPR had a "Mt. Rushmore of Horror" episode, listened to 3 terrible takes, and decided to list my own front-runners.

Psycho, Night of the Living Dead, Exorcist, Jaws, Halloween, Alien, Jaws, The Thing.

(Maybe Carpenter shouldn't be on here twice, but I can't decide)

Going back to 1998 to explain that in 27 years "Should the sidekick on Win Ben Stein's Money have a network TV show?" will be the most hotly-discussed political issue of the day because President Donald Trump used the assassination of a right-wing podcaster as a pretext for abusing federal power.

9/11 was pretty much the end of the US as a nation moving towards freedom. Fear helped turn us into a police state. There was never a time when we were free, but momentum prior to 9/11 had been edging that way. That is the reason that while I don't believe the government did it, they let it happen.

We have a bit of a natural experiment here. Compare the tone, quantity and duration of Charlie Kirk coverage with that of the two Dem lawmakers gunned down in their homes in Minnesota 6 months ago. May be revealing.
