I live 5min walking distance from 2 supermarkets, 2 pubs, a cinema and numerous restaurants, 10min from town, 15min from work, 30min bus ride to nearest city. Despite this, car-owing zealots seem to think I'm an idiot because I don't spend £200+ a month on a vehicle I don't need.

🔔 I’ve written a brand new piece for the Ham and High about why children in Haringey need a safe habitat for cycling 🔔

It’s absolutely chock full of polar bear puns 🐻‍❄️🐻

It’s about a family ride to visit animal murals, that Haringey Cycling organised last month. So many children … 1/8

Show Us Green Lanes! 🚲
This month, please snap or film the good, bad & baffling bits of Green Lanes for walking and cycling. 📸 Capture moments that show, for example:
- No safe space for cycling
- Tricky crossings
- 🚴 in action
Avoid close-ups of 😃. Pref take photos from behind.

As our kids go #BackToSchool, never forget that we ARE the traffic that we’re afraid of. If more kids walked, biked or rode transit to school, it would erase a massive number of car trips each day, and our kids would be safer, healthier and better at school. HT Ian Lockwood.

Spread the word.

Speed cameras save lives but many local authorities can’t afford to operate them because 100% of fines go straight to the Treasury.

Local authorities should at least be able to retain enough of the revenue to cover the overheads of running schemes.

Average speed cameras have cut crashes by more than 30%, councillors hear, but come at a cost.

The City of London (the financial centre) has seen a massive change in how its streets are used. Since 2019:
• - 24% private motors (exc buses + coaches)
• - 15% freight vehicles
• + 60% cycling
• - 30% walking + wheeling

Silvertown Tunnel Opens
London needs better river crossings for active travel urgently. Not a new road tunnel.

It is fascinating to me how every conversation about cycling invites dozens of comments like this. It’s true that some cyclists are rude! It’s also true that this is not relevant to whether traffic laws should be changed

bsky.app/profile/leth...
There is a certain type of cyclist who acts like a fucking asshole whenever sharing a space with pedestrians and whenever you mention it a million of them go "well cars are worse" okay thank you for screaming at my child for daring to walk on a mixed use path I guess.

Appalling headline choices from the @standard.co.uk.web.brid.gy here which appear to blame a 12-year-old cyclist for being crashed into by a car

The car is passive/non-existent, meanwhile Lime is mentioned but not the make of the more powerful and dangerous vehicle

Great news: Cycling in London is gaining momentum.

Every day, 1.33 million journeys are made by bike in the capital—that’s an increase of 26% since 2019.

I’ll keep working hard with boroughs to make our streets even safer, encouraging more Londoners to travel on two wheels.
