the real way to approach this is to establish that these characters have the same diet as actual hedgehogs. sonic doesnt need to cook because he can eat many insects and fruits raw
while i was at the bookstore i saw an 'official sonic the hedgehog cookbook' and immediately i had to think which characters in sonic can actually cook. god knows sonic himself can't

One of the best-sketched characters in an incredibly character-rich show: a fascist whose (potentially real!) redeeming qualities are continually undercut by his monumental pride, bigotry, entitlement and pettiness
The most realistic scene in DS9 is when Gul Dukat whined about how the Bajorans never erected a statue in his honor. A prophetic text.
