instead of lashing out at "coups" and "plots" by Burnham, Streeting etc, have Team Starmer considered just... being less shit at governing?

It is very funny that at this point the main thing preventing however many years of Labour hegemony is Blue Labour psychosis based around wanting their voters to be people who have not existed since the 1970s
Carney is a neoliberal centrist who operates under the constraints of getting elected in Canada; the problem with Starmer is partly that he doesn't have a comparable economic philosophy but also that he doesn't seem to want to get elected in Britain.

One of the funny* things about the Jenrick defection is his articles basically amount to "Reheated Thatcherism and bungs to pensioners have broken Britain, and that's why I'm joining the Reheated Thatcherism and Bungs to Pensioners Party".
Don't know if this sort of rhetoric has caught up with the fact that Reform's base are the most dependent on welfare of any party's

The thing with start-ups is that 90% of them go bust but that doesn't fundamentally matter because it is the investors who get hosed. If your school/hospital/benefit system gets fucked, no one steps into replace it.
Lol this is insane. The civil service is not a startup. It is the opposite of startup. And this is not what agile is.

Just reflexively oppositional, YOU NEGOTIATED THIS DEAL! If you'd not held the election when you did, Rishi would have signed it. YOU WERE IN THE FOREIGN OFFICE AT THE TIME.
This is (1) disgraceful at a moment of national danger, (2) laughably unserious and (3) deeply unwise when the President is obviously becoming incapacitated and the most unpopular person in the whole UK. Utterly disqualifying.

Next time, try:

Do you want to see a lethal injection in Piccadilly?
Want to call that raggedy-ass Trump your king?
You want your children to sing the "Stars and Stripes?"
Gary Gibbon, "You say Trump remains an ally, a lot of people will look at Trump's behaviour and say he isn't behaving like an ally"

Keir Starmer, "We must never lose sight of the fact that on defence and security we work very closely with the US. It is in our national interest to do so"

as a black comedy, someone should write a version of WWI leadup that has social media. Don't bother about incongruity of fitting 21st century social media tech into early 1900s. Just imagine what it would have been like

So how much do you think our defence spending should increase by?
When we said NATO wasn't working we were derided.

When we said a nuclear weapons system relying on the US is dangerous we were called stupid.

The truth is the establishment are more interested in kissing US feet than keeping the UK safe.

It's time for a rethink.

We have an ageing population, struggling public services, and climate change. People might want low taxes, no migrants and cheaper energy, but they also don't want to lie in a hospital corridor for hours or have their house flooded. You can win elections with magic thinking but can't govern with it.
