Following news that Labour Minister David Piccini is under investigation over the Skills Development Fund scandal, CP24 asked me why Ontarians should care about this at a time when the cost of living is on everyone's mind. Here’s my response:

Its worth taking a moment to see what 3 of our councillors vote for. Denying homeless people water.
Holyday's motion to discontinue a grant program that provides bottled water to homeless people FAILS 3-22.

My friend was hit in a crosswalk last week in #WalkTO - he is OK but went to hospital & has a concussion 🤕

I checked data... Turns out left turns account for 26% of injuries caused by collisions - pedestrian's had right of way in 24% of cases. So drivers are the problem! @ffsafestreets.bsky.social

"The more odious the proposition, the more careful the euphemism," warns Councillor Gord Perks. "Defence capacity? Is that butterfly nets? I don't think so. This is about establishing Toronto as a financing centre for weapons of war." I don't think he's a fan.

Councillor Gord Perks rails against public-private partnerships. "It is not 3 Ps. It's 6 Ps: Public Partner Pays, Private Partner Profits."

He says the private partner on Finch LRT is "laughing all the way to the bank" as council tries to fix the issues with the line.

As Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow proposes raising the luxury homes tax to address the city’s deepening affordability crisis, realtors warn the move could end up hurting all homebuyers, not just the wealthy. #Toronto

Also drivers: I never see anyone using that bike lane, let’s rip it out.

You can't install speed bumps on arterials such as Parkside, Gil. The City had a plan to make Parkside safer by putting in a bi-directional cycle track on the west side, but the Ford government banned the conversion of motor vehicle lanes to bike lanes or "any other prescribed purpose" via Bill 60.

so our government made a big deal about banning speed cameras but one city left theirs running to see what difference the ban would make and you are not going to believe this

Proof that there was no need for the city to subsidise this, if the buyers were willing to pay this, it should go to costs not scalpers
FIFA's authorized resale platform for #WorldCup2026 tickets (where they encourage resales at any price and take a cut) is officially up and running.

If you want a Category 4 ticket (very back of north/south) stand for Toronto's 1st game, they start at $1,844.

FG, FF, SF and II all vote to give €100 million of public money to the horse and greyhound racing industry.

That's three times more money than the core funding for all our sports!

€20 million is going to the cruel greyhound racing industry.

Shameful.

Marit Stiles called Doug Ford and his government corrupt and he kicked her out of the Legislature.

Doug’s not a big fan of the truth and I’m pretty sure he’s allergic to integrity.

This petition - iagreewithmaritstiles.ca - has nearly 4,600 signatures.

Let’s keep sharing it.

Pesky e-bike riders delivering food to people should be ticketed... @tps.ca there appears to be a double standard here because stopping in for some Jerk King, although delicious is not actively responding to an emergency.

The use of the lights here, while clever, is certainly inappropriate.
