I'm sad and angry about what's happened over there, but I love the positive and pro-social vibe here at Bluesky. I think it is past time for me to introduce myself properly.

In 2009, I told my husband that I was pregnant with our third child. “Wow,” he said. “We’re going to need a bigger car.”

Driver's don't obey traffic regulations because we don't enforce them.

Councillor Burnside, a former cop, says when he used to do traffic enforcement on Avenue Road he wouldn't stop drivers unless they were doing 75 km/h or over.

"Maybe that was a little high," he admits. "A little high," agrees Gray.

Of course Burnside openly admis that cops let people drive WAY too fast on Avenue Rd

I'm a mom, but it bothers me a lot when only children's and seniors' safety is mentioned. Young and middle-aged adults' lives are important too!

Myers says this is another issue that highlights the need for Toronto to look at becoming a charter city. "Whether it's speed cameras, whether it's bike lanes, whether it's blue bins, we can't seem to make a decision without Doug Ford running interference because someone got in his ear."

We started an account called Corruptario 3 or 4 years ago. (R.I.P. to that account, and 2 more.)

We published first Corruptario article in February of 2023.

We got inundated with normies saying we were crazy for saying Ontario is corrupt.

Now, not so much.

All free to read.

You seem to underestimate my commitment to moving society away from cars and towards transit by several orders of magnitude. This isn't some CHOICE between fares vs frequency/reliability - we do BOTH. Multiply Translink's budget by ten (or 100), make it all FREE, and toll personal vehicles to DEATH.

Since becoming a road safety advocate, I find driving incredibly stressful. I *know* how much I'm endangering those around me, and how much less I can perceive due to the sound-dampening and visual blind spots.

This is super interesting and important; I wish I had learned about this sooner. My 18yo is pursuing pilot training, and it's sobering how much more care is taken in training a person to pilot a plane than in training one to drive a car. What if we took driving as seriously as we do flying?

You can be the safest, most attentive driver in the world and still pose a massive risk to other road users. That’s because cars and car dependency are inherently dangerous.

This doesn’t mean you’re a bad person if you drive, but I do think that drivers should acknowledge their role in this system.

I grew up there and was always confused when the commercial came on. No one I knew had ever eaten it.

Huge difference between voter suppression and choosing not to vote. But your point is well taken.

My driver's license comes in the mail. My health card comes in the mail. My notifications about mammograms and other imaging come by mail! Some of my income comes by mail. What if we just, I dunno, used TAXES to pay for this SERVICE?

For those who wonder what a modern postal service could look like, one example is in France, where letter carriers provide check-ins on the elderly for very affordable rates, while completing their routes.

I encourage everyone to read the whole thing

Blue cities should tear up the roads in front of ICE facilities and then start decades of community engagement and input sessions to rebuild them. Let's harness our core competencies.

I'm so glad you are - so are my family and I. I'm really sorry you can't count on your family to do the same. So many people seem to have a giant mind block about masking, when it's so easy and effective. I can't understand it.
canadarobin.bsky.social
If you aren't already, please consider wearing a well-fitting mask such as an N95 or KN95 when in shared indoor spaces. The mask will help you *right now* and will also improve your chances after you are boosted. It's the single best thing you can do to protect yourself and your community.
