I’d hope he wouldn’t but we all know how worthless his words are.
Trump says he could use "unstoppable force" in Greenland but won't do so. Big news of the speech is Trump ruling out military force, something he's refused to do for months.

Then meanders on to the subject of battleships, "100 times more powerful" that "gorgeous" WW2 ships.

Starmerites; people may not have “unrealistic” expectations of the PM’s handling of Trump if he was honest about the UK’s standing in the world & how entangled we are with the United States.

You’ve done bugger all to get the industry to “get its house in order”.

Once again, this government refuses to do any difficult work (courts, tax, now SM) in favour of easy, idiotic “fixes”.
Welcome the positive signs coming from Government on this.

Young people should be protected from the clear harms social media pose. Industry has had long enough to get its house in order, and the Online Safety Act doesn’t go far enough.
Many Labour MPs back an Australian led ban on social media for under 16s.

The UK Government should give it full consideration.

A magazine that excused violent neo-Nazis is now endorsing the distribution of CSAM
We don’t need a yet-more-policed X; we need an X where only direct exhortations towards violence (all those death threats to J.K. Rowling, for example) – often accompanied by ‘doxxing’, or publishing someone’s personal information – are rigorously punished.

When a “bit” of American leftists online is to utterly despise Europeans, it’s a bit rich to demand solidarity.
I am not here for Europeans telling me Americans don't know how crazy things are. The Nazis are killing people over here at the moment so we're busy but thanks for the input. I had hoped for solidarity but I suppose I'll have to settle for sneering condescension instead.

I’m sorry, but what pragmatism is there when your country is being threatened with tariffs for supporting an ally’s sovereignty? At what point does the softly, softly approach reach the harm you’re trying to mitigate?
Tough balancing act from Starmer today & don't think he got it quite right. "Britain is a pragmatic country. We look for agreement...We prefer solutions to slogans. And we will not indulge in commentary & gesture politics that harm the British people" www.gov.uk/government/s...

What Europe could do is threaten to boycott the World Cup. It won't. But that might actually work. Trump wants his big show.

Given that the only time Article V has been invoked was in response to 9/11, Randy is talking out of his arse.
NEWSMAX: If we take Greenland, can we get out of NATO and stop paying $50 billion a year?

REP. RANDY FINE: NATO needs the US a lot more than the US needs NATO. Greenland should be part of the United States.

So the granddaughter of a literal Nazi is threatening the United Kingdom over its lukewarm response to the white supremacist’s paedo app? Why are almost all American conservatives weird nonces?

Conservatives are just inherently cunts, wherever in the world they reside. They don’t deserve “civility”, pragmatism or bipartisanship. They deserve to be hounded until they stop being said cunts.

Nina Power, for those that don’t know, is perhaps one of the few people alive in the UK you can openly call a Nazi without any fear of her suing you for libel, since she lost her suit and through legal discovery was revealed to be obsessed w/ Hitler. She still writes for the newspapers, though!
Whenever British journalists talk about including more GC voices on Bluesky, what they fail to account for is that many GCs would rather meet with open racists who agree with them on gender neutral toilets than with centrist liberals who don’t. This is from Maya Forstater’s review of the last year.

Once again, creating CSAM is not (just) a regulatory matter, it is a crime.
Good to see a Cabinet Minister call the unlawful sexual harassment on X "appalling": She backs Ofcom "to take any enforcement action it deems necessary". Ofcom asked X to urgently advise on how it is protecting users from its own production of unlawful content at scale www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
Government demands Musk's X deals with 'appalling' Grok AI

it is just so 🥴🥴🥴 to me that governments and law enforcement bodies across the world have to be begged and pleaded with to even consider investigating what is quite literally sexual crime on an unbelievable scale, taking place openly on one of the most popular digital platforms in the world.

i would suggest an online safety act that can’t deal with CSAM on a widely used social network frequented by most westminster public figures isn’t doing a very good job of keeping anybody safe online

Of course. What is the fucking point of anything when it comes to this government.

CSAM is the price to pay to be on Musk’s and Trump’s good side.

Useless, cowardly cunts.
Cabinet Office Minister Baroness Anderson tells the Lords the Government will keep on using X.

"I still believe that X is an appropriate platform to use because I believe in freedom of speech..."

"It is incredibly important that there is a counter narrative on those platforms," she says.

This is an argument that reduces Britain to complete vassel status.

Is there *any* US action, no matter how deplorable or contrary to British interests, that he would opposed?

This kind of cravenness only encourages Trump to go further and faster, confirming (accurately) in his mind his methods.
Keir Starmer: "I constantly remind myself that 24/7 our defence, our security & our intelligent relationship with the US matters probably more than any other relationship we've got in the world and it would not be in our national interest to weaken that in any way"

Late to this but what? Journalists, and especially editors, aren’t passive observers of the ‘news cycle’, particularly those working in broadcasting. Whether you want to admit it or not, you’ve far more control over the ‘agenda’ than you let on.
It’s a sign of how insane the news cycle is these days that this historic failure of government policy got just one day of news coverage this week.

Not saying that’s right or wrong, but it’s astonishing how quickly the agenda moves on these days.
BREAKING: UK’s response to Covid was “too little too late”. Acting faster could have saved 23,000 lives in England according to the public inquiry.

Boris Johnson presided over a “toxic, sexist, chaotic culture” in No10, where rule-breaking seriously undermined public confidence.
