If Mamdani wins I will leave New York. I will go live in one of the other 5 houses I have, perhaps the one in South Florida, or the one in Paris, or Napa, or Cabo, but I will definitely leave New York. I will keep my apartment, though, because it's awesome and New York is great. But I will leave.

Dang, that's crazy.

Anyway, we moved our annual refugee resettlement fundraiser to Bluesky this spring, after running it entirely on Twitter for over a decade, started with ZERO followers, took our "shrunken" audiences and beat last year's total by $200,000 in a time of massive economic upheaval
One of the biggest mistakes left-of-center pundits and influencers made was decamping to Bluesky. They made themselves irrelevant, shrunk their audiences, and dramatically lessened the positive impact they could have on our public debate at the precise time we needed it most.

A thing Zohran & his campaign have powerfully tapped into -- and that his scavenger hunt captures so perfectly -- is that a vast majority of the people who live here genuinely *love* New York City. We wouldn't stay here otherwise!

look, it doesn't matter if the night-night man isn't real. a number of voters have very real concerns that the night-night man is waiting under their beds ready to eat them as soon as mommy and daddy say night-night and you need to have a plan to address those concerns regardless

The mass starvation & killing of Palestinians in Gaza at the hands of the Israeli gov’t is a chillul hashem, a desecration of God.

Jewish leaders who criticized Zohran Mamdani for three words he doesn’t use should raise their voices loudly here as well.

Gaza is starving. Where are the American Jewish leaders?
A fear of being labelled antisemitic still deters American Jews and Jewish institutions from taking a position that is morally correct.

It’s said that we live in a post-fact society. We disagree.

Now, more than ever, facts matter, and ProPublica is going to continue to track how and when patently false statements are injected into conversations about the country’s future.

it is, effectively, a view that nothing should be done to solve any problem if there might be a trade-off somewhere for someone who you could code as “marginalized.” it is just anti-government conservatism with a different aesthetic!

Just looked this back up for something I'm working on, and think it bears repeating.

The NYC subways are incredibly safe. What people see is not violence, but disorder.

That person (and they are a person) sleeping on the train poses very little risk, however unsettling ppl find them.
Hold up. Wait.

For airplanes--the "safest way to travel"--it takes ~6,000 years to be in a fatal accident if you flew once a day.

If you took the MTA once a day, it will currently take you almost 150 THOUSAND YEARS to be murdered (3 murders YTD out of 175M-200M rides).

MTA is SAFER THAN PLANES.

In 2018 Dems elected the largest class to Congress since Watergate, ~60 seats.

A lot of it was, yes, Trump backlash. But the winners also had another thing in common, despite a wide range of differences: most rejected corporate PAC money.

It’s a hugely compelling factor to voters & underdiscussed
I think the Dems need to field gruff corruption busters at all levels whose primary campaign response to culture war issues is “All Americans should enjoy the freedom and bounty of this great country. That won’t be possible so long as venal men impoverish you and loot the country of your wealth”
