Some guy in North Carolina.
A reminder that the strike was illegal even if the boat was trailing a plume of cocaine visible from space.
It looks like Tom Cotton was being deceptive by saying video shows the men trying to flip boat "loaded with drugs." As I reported, Ds who saw video say no drugs were visible/boat was crippled.

Q for Rs is simple: Did you see drugs and was boat incapacitated, or no?

It’s true. We shouldn’t pretend that. Trumpist culture is not the same as American culture and not equal. Trumpist culture is proudly ignorant, defiantly against America’s founding values and subsequently developed values, venomously bigoted, and generally despicable.
Fox News' Will Cain: "I’m sure there are very honorable law-abiding upstanding citizens and contributors from the Somali community here in the United States, BUT..."

He goes on to say "we aren’t going to pretend here that all cultures are of equal value or the same."

Really appreciate the clarity of the president saying black people are ruining the country and this entire room of groveling empty suits saying nothing bsky.app/profile/just...
Trump, continued: "What the Somalian people have done to Minnesota is not even believable. It’s not even believable. And a lot of it starts with the governor. A lot of it starts with Barack HUSSEIN Obama, because that’s when people started coming in... They want to kiss our country good night."

These pardons are a potent weapon against Trump because they associate him with the elite impunity and legalized corruption we all hate. Someone needs to get Jeffries the memo.
Jeffries claims the charges against Cueller were "very thin" and says Trump's pardon was "exactly the right outcome"

The game here is obvious - administrators are using the anti-DEI panic to shut down publications they don't like.

And I'm assuming "shut down" in this case means "cut off official funding" since they can't legally stop distribution... Anyone know how much it'd cost to print unofficially?
On Monday, the University of Alabama suspended two student-run magazines over fears stemming from a July DOJ memo. The student journalists I spoke with yesterday told me that the decision was nonsensical and threatened their First Amendment rights.

The editors of the publications, which focus on women’s wellness and the Black student experience respectively, expressed shock at the decision.

One of these is a racist, far-right aspiration to ethnically cleanse the West by forcibly removing all non-white people -- a goal now endorsed by the U.S. government.

The other is a sometimes ham-fisted effort to acknowledge this country's shitty treatment of indigenous people.

Not similar!

No-strings-attached, zero-means-testing, no-questions-asked cash payouts have been proven, over and over again, to be the most effective form of charity/aid going.

It gets people in housing, and it saves the state money. We know this. It's fact, not theory.
An Oregon pilot program giving cash to homeless youths sees a staggering reduction in homelessness. The program gave participants $1,000 cash payments each month for two years, and at the end of the project's first phase, 91% of participants reported being in stable housing.

A D+13 environment puts every red NC congressional seat in play - most of them are in the R+6-R+10 range. @abreezeclayton.bsky.social let's go for a 14-0 delegation!

Tomorrow from Ezra Klein and Matt Yglesias: the Democratic Party will never win elections again unless it stops listening to its far-left extremists like Bill Kristol
For some reason Democratic leaders seem to prefer telling voters what they won’t be able to do, rather than what they’d like to do.

If Hegseth ordered a war crime and lied about it, shouldn’t Ds try for impeachment? Put Rs on the spot. They might get a few defections.

This is one I know from personal experience. No one reads past a sensational headline.
"Never spread the lie in the headline" should be a hard rule of 21st century journalism.

Research shows that repeating lies helps to spread them, and people read headlines more than they read stories.
News media has to do better with headlines that present false and unverified public health claims.

I wonder how much of this is our modern social structure channeling kids to college who don't really want to be there but who feel like they have to earn a piece of paper to apply for a job.
At this point, our intro comp/first-year English course has been so heavily revised, it no longer includes a novel, or "extended reading" of any kind, no "specialized" or "historical" reading, mostly in-class assignments, no research essay...and we are still seeing a 40-50% rate of AI misconduct.

If you do not demand accountability here and now, they will only become more emboldened.
Exclusive: Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth gave an order to “kill everybody” in the first strike on suspected drug boats in the Caribbean. After two men survived, the mission commander ordered a second strike to comply with Hegseth’s instructions, according to two sources.
