So, who is running against Raoul for Illinois Attorney General in '26?

What we just saw: state police not only assisting federal agents with crowd control out here, but also protester arrests.

All morning, this has been a nonviolent demonstration. Have not seen a single crime from this crowd (not that that would excuse the brutality).

I cannot express enough how this is what has been happening for some time in Broadview. Federal agents assault, shoot chemical munitions at, and arrest protesters completely unprovoked.

And state police are now helping border patrol to combat and arrest protesters.

Great work everyone.

moments ago: pandemonium.

a huge mass of border patrol agents, led by greg bovino, pushed the crowd of protesters and started grabbing people at random.

leading up to this, folks were just calmly standing in the grass, following isp’s orders.

multiple people detained. no clue how many.

When a state or local law enforcement official violates your rights, you can sue for money damages. When a federal official violates your rights — you largely cannot, thanks to a quirk of the law and the Supreme Court's decision not to find an inherent cause of action to sue under the Constitution.

What are the legal options here, either for the individuals or local/state officials? Can they sue? Can someone be prosecuted?

What DHS pulled in Chicago on Tuesday is wildly unconstitutional. They smashed down almost every door in the building, dragged entire families into the street, and detained people for hours ("Kavanaugh stops").

Ms. Fisher was held for five hours and another senior citizen was held for three hours.
Rodrick Johnson, 67, is one of many residents who were detained by federal agents during the South Shore raid. A U.S. citizen, he said agents broke through his door and dragged him out in zip ties.

Johnson said he was left tied up outside the building for nearly three hours before agents finally let him go.

“I asked [agents] why they were holding me if I was an American citizen, and they said I had to wait until they looked me up,” Jones said. “I asked if they had a warrant, and I asked for a lawyer. They never brought one.”

We are going to live in the cultural consequences of 20 years of counterinsurgency warfare and its influence on policing and popular media until a Democratic administration takes seriously its responsibility to defund, abolish, and prosecute.

The official White House account is threatening to release daily racist AI videos unless the Dems cave to their demands.

They think it’s ok to make bigoted jokes about leaving millions of Americans without healthcare.

About immigrants.

About their political opponents.

Nothing about this is “ok”

Republicans had nothing bad to say about any of the federal government’s shows of force. Three House GOP members called a news conference Tuesday, saying they wanted to “bring down the tension” while also criticizing the governor’s rhetoric and blaming him for ICE’s Illinois presence.

Minutes later, the Illinois Republican Party offered “ICE ICE baby” shirts for sale in an email blast, an apparent pun on the 1990 song by Vanilla Ice. The shirts borrowed a song lyric: “Stop, cooperate and listen.”

Screenshot of an email from the Illinois Republican Party.
“The governor should be telling people to cooperate, no different than when you get pulled over by a police officer for a traffic violation,” Illinois House Republican Leader Tony McCombie, R-Savanna, said Tuesday. “Cooperate if you have nothing — if you’re not a criminal — if you have nothing to hide, you’re not going to have any issues.” IL GOP ICE merch.
