This is the one that floors me.

My career in politics started with a job collecting signatures to close the background check loophole in Maine (I had someone flash a gun under their coat at me on my first day, fun times). It ended up losing at the ballot.

So seeing Q2 pass…that feels good.
NBC News: Voters in Maine approved a ballot measure that will impose a red flag law across the state — allowing people to petition courts to temporarily confiscate their family members' firearms in certain cases.

My professional political opinion is that people who want to stay in power should not take glee in their constituents losing jobs and children going hungry.
Looks like the Dems will pick up 12 seats in the VA House of Delegates, which will go from 51-49 to 63-37 D-R. That's an honestly shocking result.

Culture is set by the worst thing you tolerate.

What will America continue to tolerate?

What will you fight for?
I continue to wonder when Americans will decide enough is enough. As Frederick Douglass reminds us:

“The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppress.”

Fight the good fight, America. With everything you've got.
The fascists are not inevitable. They're not unstoppable. They're not all powerful. They want you to think that, but millions turned out last month to call their bluff. And millions turned out today to claim our power. We will win.

Just a reminder that one of Connecticut’s first political acts was sheltering three of the Regicides who fled England at the Restoration.

Senator Blumenthal carries on their fight for individual freedom, and refusal to bow.
Blumenthal: We’re going to continue finding more of the ballroom donors who evidently didn’t want their names revealed. And let me name them: BlackRock, Susquehanna International, Nvidia, OpenAI, Vantive, and Extremity Care.

And so, we will use every possible resource to expose this corruption to

i guess we will never know if they were ICE or not
“Three men in black vests entered a NY restaurant claiming to be ICE agents. Inside, they tied a worker’s hands and pulled a garbage bag over the person’s head. Another, believing the burglars’ story, surrendered themselves, only to be kicked to the ground and tied up as the intruders robbed an ATM”
FBI Warns of Criminals Posing as ICE, Urges Agents to ID Themselves
In a bulletin to law enforcement agencies, the FBI said criminal impersonators are exploiting ICE’s image and urged nationwide coordination to distinguish real operations from fakes.

Time to commit to the spending blackout Nov 25-Dec 2. See @blackoutthesystem.bsky.social for details and inspiration 🔥
Walmart, McDonalds and Amazon are the largest employers of people who require SNAP assistance.

The CEOs earned between 18-40 million last year, 1000x their median employee income.

They took billions in profits, while their workers relied on SNAP to survive.

Wanna fix fraud and abuse?

Fix that.

Is a 62 point lead a lot? because I’m concerned that massive wins of this sort will cause Democrats to learn the wrong lesson that standing up for principles and people and getting votes is more politically successful than spending 50 years trying to make a family of imaginary bigots like you.
just in: Philadelphia DA Larry Krasner is on track to win easily.

With roughly a quarter of the vote reporting, he leads Pat Dugan 81% to 19%.

Krasner already beat Dugan in the Dem primary... and Dugan kept running as the GOP nominee. (My write-up: boltsmag.org/2025-prosecu...)

Of course the risk of doing radical mid-decade gerrymandering for Rs in midterms always was that they weakened a lot of formerly safe Repub districts by moving R voters into Dem districts, which would backfire spectacularly if you have a blue wave scenario - making it a tsunami.

We need more Democrats to find the courage to speak up like this and speak truth to power.
While it’s certainly refreshing to hear the DNC chair call the status quo of American life “rigged,” “bullshit,” and “corrupt,” that rhetoric isn’t adequately emphasized or even acted upon by the rest of the party’s leaders.

And most Americans don’t believe they will. trib.al/Wa6lXDe
