If you grew up in a household with an evangelical right-wing parent, as I did, you already know that the dismantling of the U.S. Department of Education, like the reversal of Roe v. Wade, is the culmination of a 50-year project.

A point often missed in conversations around climate action is that we will only tackle these terrifying lines & build a survivable future for our children if we make our world fairer, healthier & safer RIGHT NOW.

It’s WIN-WIN

But right now we’re headed for LOSE-LOSE.

I'd just like to point out how weird it is that places with hundreds or even thousands of reporters — the NYT, WaPo, CBS, NBC, AP, etc. — are all getting pummeled on every major story by the dozen computerboys at Wired. To fumble the bag this consistently is, at some point, cowardice and a choice.

NEW: Metadata from the “raw” Epstein prison video shows approximately 2 minutes and 53 seconds were removed from one of two stitched-together clips. The cut starts right at the “missing minute.”

Brass Neck Blighe. Apparently his ‘faith’ prevented him from making a donation to the Irish Refugee Council or Nasc (a migrants rights advocacy service) in lieu of a conviction.

A pro-life ‘faith’ that doesn’t appear to extend any non-Irish.

The correct way to connect the authoritarian presence in LA and the Big Beautiful Bill is that the bill gives the government the resources to do this in dozens of cities at once. So if you don't like what's happening in LA, it's coming to your town if the bill passes.

Donald Trump increased tariffs to 50% on steel and aluminum, affecting Canadian jobs.

Danielle Smith's response? Restocking American booze back on Alberta shelves! She can’t do anything that Trump might not like.

She’s a terrible negotiator and can’t or won’t stand up for Canada.

It's frustrating because there were real mistakes during the pandemic! But you're not allowed to have adult conversations led by scientists in this country. You need to start with the premise that "extremists on both sides got things wrong" and work backwards.
The credulity that The Daily and other mainstream media organizations are giving COVID revisionists is simply astounding. There are plenty of experts who would be happy (ok, maybe not happy, but willing) to provide evidence-based rebuttals, but they don't get this platforming 🤦
This book is *psychotic*. Revisionist, fact-free propaganda from the very first page. I know I shouldn’t be at this point, but it’s shocking that the authors were featured on The Daily

Yes! It is very baffling to me that people seem to think there is a debate over the efficacy of masks. There isn't! Masks work at the individual level to prevent the spread of COVID.

There's a debate about mask *mandates*, the efficacy of which mostly comes down to compliance.
There’s also a tendency to overstate de jure policy as a proxy for actual distancing. An unenforced mask mandate, for example, will not have any effect regardless of the laws on the books. We know from cell phone data that Swedes were distancing, which is the actual thing that matters.
