The 2025 Headline of the Year Nominees

🧵

As stated, some caveats in this story, but overall welcome news.
Caveats apply, as this data is only through November, but so far, this year, 92% of the new power plants built in the U.S. have been solar/batteries/wind.

92%! In the year Trump tried to destroy clean energy!

More in this week's chart for @canarymedia.com:

www.canarymedia.com/articles/cle...
Chart: Clean energy remains dominant in the US — despite Trump
Trump spent much of 2025 boosting fossil fuels and blocking renewables, but 92% of new power additions through November were solar, wind, or batteries.

Hey it seems like ten million years since Hurricane Helene devastated western North Carolina but unsurprisingly, folks there are still struggling. That especially includes marginalized southerners like the ones here, so lend a hand if you can.
Like many in our city, the Blade has struggled in Helene's ongoing aftermath. We're a local journalism co-op of working class trans people. It has not been an easy year.

Amid exhaustion, illness, poverty and trauma we've still done important work. Please help us keep doing it.

"The decisions in Samarkand offer hope, yet they are a reminder that protection on paper is merely the first chapter. The rest depends on how committed we are to seeing these animals not as expendable resources but as integral threads in the fabric of ocean life."

But thanks to campaigning, Norway has just halted all deep sea mining development!

A bit of a change from what I normally re-post, but Rebecca Watson's exploration here of scientists, sexism, money, and Jeffrey Epstein and his ilk is just outstanding.
Mainstream news covered the Jeffrey Epstein emails related to ppl like Trump. Today, I want to take a look at Epstein's correspondence with prominent atheist and physicist Lawrence Krauss, who asked the pedophile's advice on responding to accusations of sexual assault skepchick.org/2025/11/so-i...
