"They don't look at people of different religions, skin colours, beliefs, traits, and think badly of them"

So true.

One of the most successful pedestrian streets in the world, the Strøget in Copenhagen, was filled with cars until a 2 year pedestrianization pilot project in 1962. The opposition argued “no cars means no business,” but the street has been a massive retail success, the city’s busiest shopping street.

Transport leaders would do well to make a name for themselves by emulating Anne Hildago’s work in Paris:

- pedestrian zones
- school streets
- reducing parking
- SUV tax
- bike lanes

Instead of vain mega-projects like a £3bn tram, that has no hope of receiving funding

This comes back to something else the current and previous Labour leaderships have both failed to understand: in most constituencies that backed Leave in 2016, most Labour supporters backed Remain.
Until Labour accepts its natural voter base has moved on from 1974, it is always going to struggle.
The Labour leadership doesn't know why the party won the last election, so has no idea how to win the next one.
Understanding 2024's victory means accepting the strategy adopted failed to deliver the voters it targeted. Labour's chances of success in 2029 almost certainly hinge on that recognition.
YouGov have Reform on 25% in both their first poll of 2025 and their final poll before Christmas. The only significan sustained gain across 2025 was Green Party +7, at expense of Labour

Reform 25% tp 25% (-)
Labour 26% to 20% (-6)
Cons 22% to 19% (-3)
LibDems 14% to 15% (+1)
Greens 8% to 15% (+7)

Germany shifts over 2 million e-bikes every year. France: over 500,000.

Britain? It will be lucky to get to 150,000. Why?

Because people need to feel safe to cycle, and that requires serious and sustained government support, which has not been forthcoming.

Previously, there was a level crossing intersection but with the arrival of a new turbo roundabout for car traffic, this was no longer desirable in terms of safety and traffic flow.
