SWIFT: Trav, honey?
KELCE: (looks up from first edition Krazsnahorkai in original Hungarian) (pauses rare Steve Reich LP, Japanese pressing) Yes?
SWIFT: What rhymes with "thighs"?
KELCE: Hmm. "Belies," perhaps?
SWIFT: (under her breath) Oh for fuck's sake

Wasn’t really sure what to expect from Chapel Bill. But after that drive, I have him as second best college coach I’ve ever seen, just below Saban.

A few years back, I half-consciously sang the chorus to "Sixteen Tons" as I walked down a campus building's hallway; I admired the acoustics and then suddenly realized what I was singing.

Classes were in session. Of course.

I know we’re going in circles but it is abundantly clear that they have literally no idea, let alone a plan, to fix their own mess.

Nobody is at the wheel, it is the first social media AI presidency and they drove themselves into a blind alley.

Johnson: "It's true that in previous shutdowns, many or most furloughed employees have been paid for the time they were furloughed, but there is new legal analysis - I don't know the details, I just saw a headline - but there are some legal analysts saying that might not be appropriate or necessary"

This being Texas vs. Oklahoma Week, I want to share with you the little-known fact that Tolkien, casting about for a name for Sauron's kingdom, had originally wanted to call it "Norman," but he decided it was just too terrifying a name.

Another tidbit the breathless Sheinbaum stans seem to ignore is the eradication of collective injunctive relief in - every (potentially) injured party must bring their own suit... to the newly party-picked courts.

The fact they jumped straight to AI actors modeled after women when, if I’m not mistaken, male actors are a higher labor cost kind of says it all doesn’t it,

This is a declaration they will use federal resources to deploy violence against judges, prosecutors, and attorneys general. There's no other coherent interpretation of the phrasing, including "only remedy," "legitimate state power," and connecting those people with "terror networks."
Stephen Miller
@StephenM
The issue before is now is very simple and clear. There is a large and growing movement of leftwing terrorism in this country. It is well organized and funded. And it is shielded by far-left Democrat judges, prosecutors and attorneys general. The only remedy is to use legitimate state power to dismantle terrorism and terror networks.

This week's top story: The long game that research historians played depended on the impractical approach of waiting out the natural death of the traditional narrative, a creation story of frontier exceptionalism that was baked into the Texan identity.

Kavanaugh Arrests

Holy hell. DHS just openly stated that its agents use “reasonable suspicion” to make ARRESTS. This is blatantly unconstitutional. The Supreme Court is clear that you need probable cause to arrest someone, as opposed to stop them to ask them a question or two. This is huge b/c…

The president just gathered the highest ranking officers in the military to tell them that he may order them to kill American citizens -- and that they better follow his orders. All in response to a series of crises that have no basis in reality.

I don't know how to yell any louder.

US left media covering Mexico like it's a new international social justice beacon never seem to ask the perspective of people like the collectives of madres buscadoras, Indigenous groups fighting projects like the Tren Maya, anyone living in Morena-governed jurisdictions being attacked by drones...

Apart from the current horror & trauma of US, losing it is devastating if you believed in it/had to. But projecting that loss onto Mexico and refusing to examine the reality of mass militarization, large-scale cooperation with US gov including eg outsourcing of justice is perpetuation of harm

To put it another way:
The Supreme Court may be damaging its own legitimacy with its own lower courts even faster than it's damaging its legitimacy in the eyes of much of the public.

I don't know what that means or looks like over the long term.
