This Yglesias piece in the NYT is horrifically bad. Almost every "fact" it cites is provably false. At best it is cocktail party banter from a pundit who knows nothing of energy. At worst, it was cut/paste from oil industry talking points. So, a rebuttal: www.nytimes.com/2025/12/18/o...

You might be thinking, "CPSC, does a dry Christmas tree really burn that much faster than a well-watered tree?"

Friend, let's find out together by watching this PSA.

As you may know, I have stopped using Twitter, and have decided to reproduce some of my more memorable threads here for posterity. Here’s one I hold wrote after a particularly engaging swordfighting lesson.

Buckle up, swordfighting fans, because I *have* studied my Agrippa!

I'm the Unreleased NES Games Guy, so "revive a lost NES game and get it officially released" has been on my bucket list for a long, long time. That it is a fundraiser cartridge with 100% of the profits helping even MORE preservation work happen is even cooler than I'd hoped. I'm proud of this.

LucasArts had so many internal tools, but to make levels their FPS games "Dark Forces" and "Outlaws" they just used the good old AutoCAD. Here are shots of "Outlaws" maps being worked on in AutoCAD R13 for Windows:

I saw this post going around and I 100% agree but there is also a bit of the inverse. There are a lot of people who are much better off than their peers who don't realize it at all how privileged they really are to be in that situation. They aren't "the rich" but it does make their view distorted.

Ok palate cleanse time. In case you missed it, here's my most popular post ever
4 yrs ago today, a family member managed a truly spectacular own goal, splintered his domestic bliss, & in the process, united the world for a day.

On popular request, I shall now recreate the livetweet thread from that day

So gather around children, for this is the tale of The Rice Truck Saga

Celebrating TEN years of Arcade Pit in a row, on December 7th. We never missed a single week, a 10 year streak. Also tons of bonus shows and goofy one-off projects.

Sign-ups for a 10-game marathon of Arcade Pit are now open! We need 40 players! arcadep.it

See you at MAGFest too; panel confirmed!

I'm going to continue using FireFox because actual ad blocking is important to me as well as avoiding giving google more monopoly power but man Mozilla is depressing as a organization.

Rebecca Heineman passed today.

She was a unique talent, to understate things. Anyone could see that in her long list of accomplishments.

But we are not just our catalogs of retail products. She was a force of nature, a light in the darkness.

This is an unimaginable sadness.

Train Simulator Controller: TPWS Control Panel
TPWS is a key safety system in UK trains, so my Class 80x cab needed a precisely replicated TPWS control panel.
