A striking thing about articles I’ve read claiming to “study the effects” of generative AI on student writing skills and consumption of information is that (1) they nearly always find the effects are negative and (2) most “conclusions” are still written assuming that we must use AI, for some reason.

Mostly in my view: Cis people who still like Harry Potter these days — like cis people who still read the NYT — they're just telling on *themselves* now that they aren't paying any attention ... I take this into consideration as I calculate in terms of my own safety, as a trans person.

I keep seeing people comparing conversion therapy to bloodletting and leeches as barbaric practices, but like... therapeutic phlebotomy and medical leeches are still legitimate treatments based in sound medicine, whereas conversion therapy is... not.
