if this is the case, then Pritzker's first real 2028 test is *now*. If he lacks the authority, then you can't just lay down or throw up your hands. the moral case is clear. He has to both communicate that he lacks the authority AND!! make a public effort to ask for such authority.

People really do be believing that police departments do what elected officials say huh
jortscity.bsky.social
I'm not against engaging in legitimacy questions but we can't be doing it from a high level
jortscity.bsky.social
does anyone have a good line by line response to Trump V. US that a layperson could parse?
atticusgf.bsky.social
Trump vs. US was the final straw imo. You cannot read that ruling and continue believing they have legitimacy. It is not only against the plain text of the constitution, it is anathema to the national ethos. It is offensively, insultingly un-American and they ceded legitimacy by committing that sin.
prchovanec.bsky.social
I think people seriously underestimate what it means to say that the Supreme Court is “illegitimate”, and what the consequences of saying it (and meaning it) are.

Clearly vegetarian need to create a German city called Veggieburg.
manuelmueller.foederalist.eu
In short, you can call it a "hamburger" if it contains meat rather than ham, because everyone knows what a hamburger is; but you can't call it a "veggie burger" if it is veggie-based, because that would be confusing. 🙃

*more plainly say.

anyways. a 2nd reconstruction will similarly to the first one involve temporary dissolution of enough states to ratify a second Declaration & Constitution. That's basically our option. otherwise we will continue to limp our way to our deaths
jortscity.bsky.social
I think that tortures the logic a bit. The easier way to go about it might be to more possibly say the 2024 election ended the 2nd Republic, nothing is legitimate or carried forward except for what we explicitly ratify from here on out
jortscity.bsky.social
this is not a ding on Andy but I was trying to convince people to make constitutional contingency plans in 2020 bc I 100% saw this coming and it's extremely frustrating how little people seemed to have considered the implications
andycraig.bsky.social
The federal government as ordained and established by the Constitution has ceased to function, and what has replaced it isn't our government under our Constitution. That's not flippant rhetorical hyperbole, I don't say it insensitive to what the consequences are. But it's the grim reality we face.

really interesting article

I am not asking you to doom or act irrationally or provoke violent conflict. But you should take the time to consider how your life changes ***IF*** they mean what they say here and act on it. They are weak, they are cowards, but it does not take a strong or brave US govt to hurt many people.
premthakker.bsky.social
My gosh. After the US bombed multiple boats in the middle of the ocean, murdering people on grounds that they were allegedly "carrying drugs," the US Attorney General says "Just like we did with cartels, we're going to take the same approach, President Trump, with Antifa."

I do not want to write about the forest. I want to write about a particular tree

Proud to announce Leaders We Deserve is endorsing @justinjpearson.bsky.social in his race for #TN09. From his work stopping the Byhalia Connection oil pipeline to his fearless stand for stronger gun safety laws, he's shown the kind of backbone needed to take on powerful special interests.

I haven't seen this talked about on here since Hogg left the DNC executive team but Leaders We Deserve has a website up including a few endorsements against Dem incumbents. just saw a TikTok from him that they're backing Justin Pearson vs Steven Cohen.

Democrats are ready to fix this crisis, but Republicans would rather keep the government shut down.

Their allegiance to Trump outweighs their duty to you—the American people.

I don't want to accuse bsky of being joyless because that's not really what I mean, but as a Poaster who in the past often dealt out stupid puns and jokes in people's replies, I am not rewarded for doing so on here to nearly the same degree

"i made lists in order to give people unending abuse"
Dark-theme screenshot of a social post from Zeph (handle @zeph@jorts.horse

“No, a follow doesn't mean ‘endorsement’, a shitlib framing, but 90% of the time you're following people you enjoy.

And I question the integrity of people boosting the social media presence and credibility of, say, The Heritage Foundation.

I followed all the chuds when I got to bsky, but I make my feelings pretty clear to those people via unending abuse. The shit I would rightfully get for it from a queer community in danger wasn't worth it though. So I made lists, like a COO should know to do.”

let's do a thought experiment:
• all adults have equal income and pay equal taxes
• 50% of adults are married to each other and have 1 kid each, making kids 1/3rd the pop.
• what % of govt spending should kids receive, as they don't pay taxes? any amount above 0% will disprop. benefit parents

we win by making sure these stories get ORGANIZED, INDEXED, AND USABLE LATER. tell them now, sure, but winning the shouting match today is not winning, it's keeping the memories to use later when others have forgotten

I really believe that huge majorities of Americans don’t want masked soldiers shooting priests in the street. They don’t want naked children ripped out out of their apartments in the middle of the night and handcuffed. We win by making sure these stories get told.

The same people who insisted devout Catholic Joe Biden was leading a “war on Christianity” are now cheering Trump on as his armed goons assault clergymen.
