ICE murdering people of any citizenship status should be a very hard line in the sand for absolutely every single one of us. And at this point, I think they’ve done it seven or eight times if you’re waiting for a tipping point, the tipping point was the first time this happened.

Here is how we nourished ourselves tonight: bone in pork chops with garlic and gruyere mashed potatoes. Also a side of beets and yams. 🍽️ 🍜
On a white dinner plate: a one inch bone in pork chop nicely browned. A side of mashed potatoes on one side of the plate alongside a colorful medley of sweet potatoes, beets, red and yellow peppers. A knife and fork rest on the side of the plate. A piece of the pork chop is missing, couldn't wait....

This isn't really a weeknight meal, but here it is. Braised short ribs and cauliflower polonaise. The short ribs cooked yesterday and reheated today. The cauliflower could have used more salt (the recipe called for more). From the Les Creuset cookbook pages 67 and 160. There's leftovers ... 🍽️ 🍜
On a white dinner plate: a braised short rib bone side down in a pool of braising liquid. Next to that is a scattering of cauliflower, lightly browned with bits of boiled egg, toasted bread crumbs, and capers. The sauce was rich and the grated orange zest added a nice touch every once in a while.

It is a smorgasbord night as we wait for the year to end / begin. This year our traditional year end meal includes wesleydale cranberry cheese, harissa deviled eggs, butterscotch pear, salami and lots of other good stuff. A cranberry coconut wine is not shown but enjoyed. Salud and happy new year!
Across two wooden cutting boards sits an array of small finger foods. Blue cheese stuffed olives, dried figs, three types of cubed cheese. Also chopped turkey, thinly sliced salami, deviled eggs, apple, and butterscotch pear. Cherry tomatoes, crackers, pickles, and grapes round out the options on display.
