Just seems a little short while ago that various government politicians, and people acting as their media surrogates, were outraged and scandalized by, and poured scorn on, comments from younger women politicians for suggesting many people don't trust cops.

The most surprising thing in today's news - tragically and awfully - is that apparently the cops DO know how to prosecute somebody under the Harmful Digital Communications Act. #nzpol

Abolish the Senate.
It's antidemocratic, anti-Black, and classist. It exists solely because the racist founders thought the House of Representatives was TOO democratic and because the southern slavers demanded a house of Congress where they'd have outsized influence.
Get rid of it.

In fact, I think a truly mature conversation would actually assess some of our many past asset sales and consider whether re-nationalising some of those assets might be in the country's interest.
But that's definitely not the conversation he wants.

NZ needs to have a ‘mature conversation’ about selling state assets, PM says
Prime Minister Christopher Luxon has indicated asset sales could be included in National’s manifesto for the 2026 election.

Since the Democrats worked extra hard to hide who actually supported this, I think the No Kings/Resistance position should be to primary every Democrat unless they publicly call for Schumer's ouster this week
Either they go into total rebellion mode, which they won't, or the people will

The idea that there's a "deference to youth" is almost funny. Almost the entirety of UK politics centres around catering to boomer sensibilities.
Rowling and Liddle are both repugnant, hate-driven arseholes, and this stuff is saying that believing they are is some kind of wild extremist insanity that must be expunged. How long do we think these miniature Canutes can send back the incoming tide, do we think?

Recently found out a friend has been lying about masking. Constantly guilting me about how much they miss me, pressing to hang out indoors, swearing they’re safe. Sheepishly now telling me they knowingly came into my home two days after COVID exposure. I don’t know if I’ve ever been this angry.

I'm ready for apologies from pundits and politicians who showed their bigoted asses and suggested we needed to abandon trans people in order to win.
looks like "fairness in girls' sports" wasn't the unbeatable wedge issue you thought it was, was it? kinda makes you look like a dumbass, huh?

I’m Jewish. I lived in New York for a decade. I am very, very concerned about antisemitism.
I have no doubt that Zohran Mamdani would fight to protect my life and my rights. I have no doubt the ADL has entirely failed to protect me and my family from fascists.
I know where my allegiance lies.

The idea that trans rights are so unpopular with the general public that we should take a slow, incremental tactic and bargain away our rights piecemeal for the chance to get them in the future should be absolutely put to bed, and everyone who argued this tactic owes a real big mea culpa

I love that Zohran did not praise Cuomo in his speech. You absolutely do not have to say nice things about bad people. We should normalize that in “polite” politics: Praising bad people is not actually “civility.”

My takeaways?
Wow, who would could possibly think people like progressive platforms rather than conservative compromise.
Ground game, every damn time. You have to get that vote to the polls.

This is an important point. Let's double down on this. Today proves that you can win running on center, center left, and progressive positions and win in 2025. You dont have to compromise, throw people under the bus, or pretend voters only care about 'the price of eggs'.
At this point, anyone—a university, a law firm, a corporation, a Democrat—bending the knee to Trump is doing it because they want to, not because of any political reality.
