If you listened to Guido talk, he stated that he was using DiD and TWFE interchangeably.

The problems he raised was about the TWFE estimator, and not DiD. But people now just say DDDiD 🤔

What else should they use that can cover the needs of empirical researchers?

There is no silver bullet.
DDDiD: Don't do difference in differences (w obs data). DiD is a (bad) weighting estimator and is almost always strictly dominated by better ones

Maybe now that Guido is saying it, people will listen

Denver gave people experiencing homelessness $1,000 a month.

Results showed that close to half of the participants secured housing, and nearly $600K saved in public service costs due to fewer ER visits & jail stays. They also saw improved mental health.
