After decades of being told that the Dutch and Danes had some innate affinity for biking, here the Parisians are showing the world that alternative mobility can be rolled out anywhere/everywhere.

Shout out to Bogotanos who have also embraced the humble bicycle!
“A major survey of 12,000 reveals that 39% of Parisians are regular cyclists. The study also highlights the rapid development of infrastructure in the capital, which is behind this cycling boom!” Posted by the City of Paris (aka @paris.fr)

Active travel can help tackle the climate crisis earlier than electric vehicles – even if you swap the car for a bike for just one trip a day.

I am just revelling in how bluesky right now is like walking into a friendly neighbourhood coffee shop and seeing some friends. Twitter for the last little bit has been like the Granville strip at 3 a.m. with a scary amount of coke and meth and men who just want to scream at you.

Really sad to hear about the death of John Horgan. Just 65. I had only met him a few times, but bonded over our love for lacrosse. My condolences to those closest to him. vancouversun.com/news/john-ho...

It's not "weird". Call it what it is - anthropomorphic climate change.
The weather has been weirdly warm in the eastern two-thirds of the United States as November gets started — more than 10 degrees above average across parts of over 20 states.
Why November has been so weirdly warm — and why that might continue
It’s been an unusual start to November, and the reason may surprise you.

When someone says “the president is not a dictator” and you say “maybe soon though” I worry that that’s a akin to “obeying in advance.”

No. The president of the US is not a dictator. Even if he would like to be, we will not allow it.

Upzoning when it comes to affordability is merely the first step. We can't have affordability without density. This doesn't mean that mere upzoning with no other actions taken will lower costs. We need public housing.

Opposing upzoning due to affordability concerns is a deeply unserious stance.
