Minutes before not quite disaster but a bit overcooked…I’m quite happy these turned out to be delicate little dumplings and not the Chinese Cornish pasties I usually end up making. Still a way to go! But they were so tiny and cute!

I don’t know where I picked this up (it’s got to be idly scrolling through instagram that’s done it) but for the past two days, I’ve had “Paparazzi” by Lady Gaga in my head but with the word “paparazzi” replaced by “capybara”.

Very much enjoyed Wake Up Dead Man. It’s a shade too long but still engaging, and both funny and creepy which I very much enjoyed. It’s a pity it’s not going to be in cinemas longer.

I didn’t feel Christmassy but today feels very much like a stay in and watch fluffy adventure films while buying presents online kind of a day so I think I may be half way there.

The BBC is the biggest thump of soft power the UK has and its reach and influence to the benefit of the country is extraordinary. Destroy it, hugely damage the UK. The same people who helped weaken us over Brexit are seeking to do it again.
Interesting to see so many great British patriots right now begging an American president to bankrupt one of Britain’s last remaining truly national institutions.

I write middle-grade whodunnits, so you might want to dismiss my opinion out of hand. But I think cosy games/crime sometimes miss the fact that blankets are only cosy when it's cold outside. A world without conflict / a story without stakes isn't cosy, it's just safe.
We need to talk about the cozyfication of games because it’s a serious disease, possibly as bad as the edgyfication of the 90s and the grittyfication of the 00s.

Parents, please check your kids’ candy this Halloween. I’ve just found an ancient metal whistle with the inscription “QUIS EST ISTE QUI VENIT" inside a Snickers bar. I blew it and heard a note of infinite distance, and now I’m haunted by a figure in pale, fluttering draperies. Be safe.
