Any #writers out there? Where are my people?
I'm delighted to be included in this year's Water~Stone Review. Special thanks to Meghan Malony-Vinz and Joni Tevis. This piece is my favorite piece I've ever written. ❤️

I love my neighbors. We're in week 3 of a trash pickup strike but my neighbor took my trash & that of 2 neighbors on his dump run.
+ a wood pallet and broken wheelbarrow of mine. 💗

I gave them a load of 🍋 from my tree. ☺️

I finally got my new Oklahoma redbud planted. I had to make a gopher basket out of chicken wire myself in order to fit the 15 gallon sized hole I dug. Now, in 5 years or so I'll have more shade on the patio.

Curiosity is undervalued yet vital.
Unsolicited writing advice, no. 118:
Don't just write what you know. But make sure you know what you're writing about. That means due diligence; research; talking to people with specialist expertise or experience. And it means never stop learning; exploring; questioning; listening; being curious.

I love how my neighbor's solution to deer getting in his yard is for me to build a new gate farther down my driveway than where the gate currently is (and has been for decades). The audacity. People love to spend other people's money. 🙄

Querying teaches you something every great writer needs: how to believe in your story, even when no one else has said yes yet.

John Waters. Icon. 💗
In 2000, John Waters donated 372 pieces of his art collection to the Baltimore Museum of Art. They named a rotunda after him in their gallery. He requested an all-gender restroom be named for him instead. #BOTD
