Your short story should rise toward a peak and then LAND and finish. It's a one arc story most of the time. The problem should be easy for a reader to understand and empathize with. Keep it interesting. In general, love affairs are not that interesting.

Maybe we need to spend more time calling out the leaders of the Democrat Party who’ve been half-assing the resistance since 2016.
Democrats need to understand that they can just say “It’s insane to threaten Greenland” and “I don’t think ICE should murder Americans in the street” and you don’t need to pretend to link it to the affordability crisis.
