Good reporting on the South Shore raid from South Side weekly here.

Confirms one thing I was told but didn't put in my own piece because I didn't have a second source and it seemed too insane: border agents segregated arrested residents by race

Federal Agents Storm South Shore Building, Detaining Families and Children
Families were woken by flashbangs and helicopters as hundreds of federal agents raided their homes. Days later, neighbors are still searching for the missing.

Liberals and Democrats will call for "funding local police" as a way to solve the problem of DHS/ ICE and no one will think about the fact that this is how we got here.

DHS includes a bunch of false and defamatory statements in their tweet about Kilmar Abrego Garcia as they prepare to send him to Uganda.
DHS: With today's ruling, Kilmar Abrego Garcia's final order of removal stands.
This MS-13 gang member, human trafficker, domestic abuser, and child predator will never be loose on American streets.
His lawyers tried to fight his removal from the U.S. but one thing is certain, this Salvadoran man is not going to be able to remain in our country. He will never be allowed to prey on innocent Americans again.
Never forget the Democrats flew to a foreign land on the US taxpayer's dime to break bread with this terrorist gang member and visit him in prison. While they continue to fight for criminal illegal aliens, we will continue to put the safety of the American people FIRST.

DOJ’s attempts to charge these cases in DC and LA have been resoundingly unsuccessful. Grand juries have rejected a huge proportion of the attempts to indict. One case in LA that went to trial as a misdemeanor recently ended in acquittal

Flock around, find out: Flock apparently decided to reinstall all of the ALPRs they recently took down in Evanston. One problem though: they didn't consult Evanston about it. The city sent a cease & desist letter, and Flock has "committed to promptly removing the cameras." Full story here ⬇️

Our brief argues that proper advice on the disparity between jury and judge sentences would’ve been relevant to a decision to plead guilty or go to trial and that the court decision should be reversed. Dillon’s counsel has since been disbarred. Oral arguments are expected to be scheduled soon. 4/4

Virginia’s old mandatory jury-sentencing laws chilled the exercise of trial rights producing excessive sentences untethered to VA’s sentencing guidelines. The system was prone to arbitrariness because juries lacked comparative sentencing info & weren’t guided by the same framework judges use. 2/4
Image: cover of 2020 blog on Justice Forward Virginia’s website. Picture of courtroom. Text: Jury Sentencing, a broken process. July 17, 2020 Reforming Jury Sentencing - Reducing Virginia's Trial Penalty. Virginia's current law allows prosecutors to force a defendant into a jury trial, which means a jury sentence, if convicted. Sentencing ranges often require juries to give a minimum sentence that don't apply to judges and juries are not allowed to be told about or recommend alternatives to incarceration, such as probation, drug or mental health treatment, or community service. A simple change that allows defendants to choose sentencing by a judge is one step toward a more fair system. Read More →
