This was really well done. They oversimplified some things, but ultimately I think they did SUCH A GOOD JOB summerizing a 12+ year career in 20 minutes. Great footage sprinkled throughout too, and loved the ARMY they interviewed!

This is part of the reason that I didn't go into academia. Not that I'm rolling in jobs now, but I still at least have half a hope. Meanwhile, the writing was on the wall for academia 20 years ago (especially, my beloved humanities) and I've only been proven right.
DEI isn't why you didn't get a job. THERE ARE NO JOBS. YOU DIDN'T GET A JOB BECAUSE THERE ARE NO JOBS. If all the older professors retired? You still wouldn't get a job! Not in the humanities! Because they'll replace at best half of those lines! There will still be no jobs! None!

i am at the point now where if i can afford it, i will pay a premium for anything that i feel reasonably sure a person actually made. i just want a real human being to create the thing and i want to give them a fair amount of money directly for the thing.
AI has poisoned most of my hobbies in some way, it’s so ridiculous. recipes are fake, crotchet/sewing/knitting patterns are wrong and use AI project images, history podcasts rely on AI scripting or narration, writers keep getting caught with chatgpt prompts in books, please make it stop!!!!

I already don't watch Eurovision, but now I DEFINITELY won't. Bravo to Ireland, Spain, and the Netherlands for sticking to their principles even if it means missing out on fun.
Ireland will not take part in the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 after it was confirmed that Israel would be allowed to participate in the competition.
Spain and the Netherlands have also confirmed that they have withdrawn from the contest.
