"Did you see what Mark Cuban posted? Oh did you see the clapb—"

You shake yourself awake in the cold North Atlantic water. You are not online. It is July of 1858. You are a baleen whale, and you have changed your mind. The future most not come to pass. The telegraph cable must break.

The 25 of December is when the "Twelve Days of Christmas" actually begin, known as Christmastide.
And there are theories that "the partridge in a pear tree" started as a magpie in a pear tree as it was a motiff in older popular songs. 🐦🎄

Happy Holidays!!

Made a from-scratch gingerbread house at the request of the child—not bad for my first time! There are eight frolicking reindeer, but one fell off of the roof and broke his face, and so now is hiding behind a pine. Happy Christmas!

I reread A CHRISTMAS CAROL and rewatch A MUPPET CHRISTMAS CAROL every year, and this is true.
"I hope the skeptics have been satisfied by my 'puppets are uncanny' argument, because now I have to mount my third point and achieve the hat trick that will seal my grand yuletide theory: Kermit the Frog is the only performer to ever truly embody Bob Cratchit."
A Grand Yuletide Theory: The Muppet Christmas Carol is the Best Adaptation of A Christmas Carol
Only one movie has ever managed to recreate that uniquely Dickens magic, achieving it not so much through adaptation as through transmutation.

NEW: Colorado Sens Hickenlooper and Bennet announce they're putting a hold on the Senate appropriations package to demand funding for NCAR.

Bennet said today that the Trump administration's move to dismantle the climate/weather lab is retaliation for Tina Peters' imprisonment.

Listening to the radio: a Bowie song plays, and my child gasps in the backseat. "Oh my god!" he says. "Is this the guy that stole that baby?! Is this the guy with the fart swamp?!"

I breastfed my child for 2 years—

I believe that feeding a baby is an act of love, whether done by breast/chest, formula, or feeding tube. The choice a parent makes is a choice made from a place of wanting to see an infant thrive, full-bellied & warm.

MAHA rhetoric around breastfeeding is gross.

If I had a nickel for every time a doctor offered an antidepressant instead of a medical treatment, I’d be able to buy a night out on the town—for two!

I am having a hard time finding any, and I think it is crushing me.
