I think Trump loves America. Its just that his vision of America is not one that obviously benefits the average American. Trump has over the years expertly gamed and used the American system in ways that would not have been possible in most other countries - so I do think he loves America.

Murdoch and Moscow have worked well in tandem. Well played in their end. They might have observed how successful US TV evangelists were and simply said lets do the same, but with another twist. Sad that it worked, but it did.

It's weird to me that so many of my neighbors voted to take away their own healthcare to give me a tax cut. They need their health care. I don't need a tax cut. Neither does anyone who makes more than me, either.

Its the American way; a freedom the US GOP is working hard to push on other countries as well. Exactly why this is a good thing is left as an exercise to every intelligent person to consider.
The idea that you only get health care if you work is a level of true evil I still can't fully wrap my head around.

The US should walk away or push Russia out of the way. Continuous attempts to push Ukraine to ceed land for a temporary ceasefire should, in a dane world, not even be on the agenda - but here we are.
🚨 BREAKING: US Secretary of State Marco Rubio warned that the Trump administration is ready to walk away from Ukraine ceasefire talks in the coming days if it becomes clear that a deal is impossible.

The question more people should spend time thinking about is why brands increase the value of any goods at all. How come a 99% finished garment or bag has a low value when imported and then once the right label is sewn in/on, the markup is 1000% - or more. Then consider tariffs and what this means.
There is NOTHING “low quality” about what’s manufactured in China.

Every luxury brand you’ve heard of is either entirely or partially manufactured there.

That asshole is messing with global trade in a way that he simply cannot actually comprehend. The ramifications will be dire for many brands.

Its already happening. And its not that the world (well, AFAIK) want to leave the US behind, its the current rulers/owners of the US that want to be left behind. Its mindboggling how it went from a beacon on a hill with PAX Americana to this… oligarchy? Scary. Fascinating. But scary.
Going to be remarkable to see the speed with which the rest of the world figures out how to get by without the United States.

Universal healthcare would perhaps help - if people knew their healthcare didn’t depend on them working every day until they die, maybe they’d live longer and happier lives, even in the US? It seems to work in all other modern industrialized nations - and its cheaper too!
We need to have a serious discussion about officials in poor health hanging on to their seats too long. No one ever believes their own number is going to be called. I get that. But it’s ultimately a self-centered and dangerous thing to do, especially when every vote matters.

In todays digital age, it wouldn’t even be hard to accomplish - even if it would take time to drive adoption. Systems for payment should not be privately owned, there is no competition anyway.

It can always loose 100% more until it reaches 0. A toxic brand and low sales volumes does not really motive the crazy PE ratio the stock still is at.
Tesla lost 10% of its value in one day.

Yes. It can continue down a lot more. And the dollar can also weaken a lot more. Making everything more expensive to Americans. Is that winning?

This cannot be a surprise to anyone. The US spent 75 years cultivating soft power to complement military might. And now… its gone. The vacuum will be filled. Africa doesn’t want europeans, so China it is. Its like handing over networks of an old empire to another.
AFRICOM commander Gen. Langley tells senators that China is "trying to replicate" USAID programs in Africa as the US scales back USAID.

"They’re trying to use that as an extension of the Belt and Road Initiative to gain favor by the African countries," Langley said.

Greenland is actually very strategic. If the goal is to break Americas world leadership, US should annex it tomorrow, and see its trade flows stop the day after. Its like that bomber Harris quote about germany bombing others not expecting to be bombed back…
It is almost as if Putin scripts this.

Anyone who voted for GOP in the previous elections voted for project 2025. That the average GOP voter might not have understood this due to lack of transparent news, knowledge or understanding is no excuse, but an explanation that will haunt the world for decades. Well played, Putin. Well played.

The art of the deal. It never says who the deal is good for, does it?
March 28, 2025 at 9:45 AM
Its a common historical theme: private fortunes amassed by people who find ways to tap into public funds. But of-course they hate the government; any expansion of central power may cut of their own supply lines or add ”competitors”.
The same oligarchs who claim they hate government handouts are almost entirely reliant on government handouts themselves. Some would say it is hypocritical. But remember that hypocrisy is merely an expression of power.

For anyone who voted for a party who’s de-facto leader openly said they would have to vote no more after the election, what was the expectation? That democracy would just continue forever? Democracy is not something granted by a higher power, it is taken and continuously reclaimed by the people.

He is probably right. Putin didn’t want this war. He wanted a 3 special operation and quickly reestablishing Ukraine as a vassal state right next to Belarus. What he got was a war that he didn’t want but cannot afford to loose.
