The very things that annoy you about kids are the same reasons y’all get on here saying you hate small talk and don’t speak to your neighbors. It’s hyper-individualism. It’s easier to project that discomfort onto the most vulnerable rather than examine how disconnected we’ve all become.

So it turns out... the US air travel system was incredibly, deeply dependent on federal funding to just run day-to-day all this time, to the benefit of private airline shareholders, when everyone thinks that state-run trains are leeching off the government. Weird!

until pretty recently normie meant "not very online" but people are using it to mean "totally disengaged with politics" which has been a confusing shift. our "not very online" normies are some of our most effective political actors!

Most American cities are actually pretty fun, safe places with families and normal people just living their lives, but to the paranoid suburban MAGA base who experience life primarily though a screen, cities are violent scary places that need to be purged by heroes in uniform
