Total insanity.
This is Charles Clyde Ebbets, the photographer who took the iconic “Lunch atop a Skyscraper” picture. Look at this fearless, dapper fuck wearing spats, suspenders, and a tie 850 feet above the ground. Absolute legend.
Here he is taking the photo.

These are so gorgeous. I would also love to see the "Nailed it" versions.
I’ll end with some dazzlingly glorious costume design. This summery set pays homage to Alexandra Byrne’s work on the 2020 film adaptation of ‘Emma’.

I learned last night that Mira Nair was married to photographer, Mitch Epstein. They met while she was a student and he was a professor at Harvard. He was a producer of Mississippi Masala.

Tonight was the inaugural ride of our new home buyout program. We connect with vendors too scared to be out, and we purchase from them at home. Tonight we bought 250 tamales, divided into 3 teams to deliver all over the city to folks on the street, Love Fridges, and a youth shelter.

I found this a really illuminating thread on what demonstrations do and why they matter.
In social movement studies, we talk about how marches and protests expand the threshold of acceptable risk so that people take more and bigger social risks IN PUBLIC, EN MASSE. This is extremely important for the bourgeois white folks holding signs and building social rapport.
Not a shitpost: #NoKings is feel-good performative activism for comfortable mostly upper and upper middle class white folks and that’s good, actually. Millions of people in the streets protesting a fascist regime is good. It is good for the normie baseline to be massive displays of public dissent.
