From what I'm seeing, there was a turnout of about 65% of eligible voters, of which Trump got ca. 52%, which yields 34% of the total eligible electorate voted *for* Trump. Hardly a "Will of the People" majority affirmation.

It’s not about Trump. He will be deposed and disposed of by his backers. It’s about Vance. He will carry out the agenda. Trump is a diversion and once again the press falls for it.

Did many sci-fi writers in the 50’s and 60’a predicted the news headlines of the 2020’s. At the time it seemed an outlandish fantasy….and here we are with it all having come true

It doesn’t matter that Vance is a douche who no one respects. He is picked to replace the failing Trump and carry out his agenda. It is diabolical and scary.

Every Trump supporter who is insisting that they’ll leave the United States if Trump isn’t re-elected should have to answer why they feel another country should accept an immigrant who fled for political purposes.

Again: Every email's worth of text you have "AI" write uses a pint of water. So imagine if every time you composed 150 words, you had to just take out a 16 oz water bottle, fill it up, and dump it on the ground. That's what you're doing.
We need a new Smoky Bear ad in which he points at the camera and says "Every time you use AI to write a novel, you burn down a small forest."
But okay, if “AI is bad at writing” won’t convince you, and “AI is bad for writers” won’t convince you, and even “AI is bad for *your* writing” won’t convince you, maybe you could try on “AI will destroy the environment in the pursuit of being bad.”

This argument convinced me. I confess that I hadn’t even considered the environmental aspects

The high environmental cost of using AI makes it a complete non-starter for me, even before all of the ethical and quality issues.

Fits exactly with what Anat Shenker-Osorio, master message-maker, has found in focus groups:

"...messaging about who/what Trump is does not work. That's baked into voters' calculus.... Messaging about what Trump WILL DO TO YOU is what makes voters wanna get off couch & vote to stop him."
We're some years from the point where shaming people about their enabling of Trump will do any good (not least bc the press has lost interest in/ability to shame outside of dumb gotchas, which is part of the point.

Short term we need to make people understand how he would destabilize their lives.

Mary Burchell remains one of the most successful romance writers, ever. Over 110 Mills and Boon books to her name.

Less well known is that much of her early writing was done for one purpose:

Funding her efforts to get Jews out of Nazi Germany, with her sister.

Mary is a Righteous Gentile. /1 🧵

This is excellent!
I did a write up of the new California law that greenlights 30 pilot projects for "neighborhood-scale electrification"

Basically, CA utilities are going to start moving whole neighborhoods off gas. People will get free retrofits and appliances.
