Once upon a time, the ever-evolving graffiti on this reservoir near the psych unit was a cave-painting-record. I photographed much of it over months.
One day they painted it grey. The next day:

Sannomiya station, Kobe, maybe 17 or 18 years ago. I stepped in to stop what I saw. I don't know if it was enough at the time, but I hope so.
I hope men understand that it is very very rare for anyone who is not a woman’s lover, close friend, or relative to stand up for her when another man insults her in a room of other men. It is incredibly unusual. They may not join in the bullying, but they’re unwilling to step in to stop it.

Had a long conversation with my contact at the Oregon Dept of Agriculture. The ODA administers the Hemp program. She has been hearing from a lot of hemp growers lately. (She thanked me for being nice about it - I said I waited a few days to calm down before calling.) Here's what I learned:

Predator movie that’s just about bureaucratic maneuvering between an animal-rights group that wants to end human hunting and an environmental sustainability group that says human hunt fees subsidize the protection of the whole reserve against industrial exploitation.

Amazon must die.
This feels like an ad written, directed *and* acted by people who have
1. Never played a game
2. Never watched anyone play a game
3. Never seen anyone interact with Alexa
4. Never seen anyone interact full stop
5. Never been alone in a room?
just saw the worst gaming ad ive ever seen

Despite industry leaders promising that agentic AI is the future, taking care of virtually all human tasks within the next few years

#CarnegieMellonUniversity researchers just released a paper showing that even the best–performing AI agents fail to complete real-world office tasks 70% of the time

From this minister's op-ed: "People wanting to experience God are more likely to meet the Divine trying to shut down the Broadview, Illinois, ICE facility than we ever were in church...God does not live in our houses of worship, but...with those who are bearing the brunt of cruelty in this moment."

"giving a shit is anti-AI" has been on my mind for a few days
ai ads will always be a hallmark of losers, even if the candidate wins. it's just intrinsically loser shit. no consent, environmental and other externalities? loser shit

zohran had staffers who cared to think about the transliteration of his name into Chinese. giving a shit is intrinsically anti-AI
Most importantly, the Chinese names are homophonous with "Zohran Kwame" when pronounced in both Cantonese (the spoken language used by first-wave Chinese immigrants from the South) and Mandarin (the spoken language used by new-wave Chinese immigrants from the North).

What an absolute masterstroke.

Folks, if you are hungry, please contact your local Sikh gurdwara. Or just show up for langar, which most gurdwaras do several times a week, for a free meal. Lots also do weekly or monthly drives giving out groceries.

No conversion necessary. Feeding anyone who is hungry is a key part of Sikhism.
A lady on TikTok has been calling churches pretending to be a mother with a baby who needs formula and several churches turned her away. But wouldn’t you know that when she called a Mosque (Islamic Center of Charlotte) they immediately said yes.

Microsoft is a crater of filth ruled by cruel imbeciles who don’t understand basic facts about the industries they hungrily exploit.

Its executives are *deeply* stupid people who mistake their predatory ruthlessness for savvy. If they all melted in hot slag tomorrow, the world wouldn’t be worse.

Game publisher execs are about two more fads away from putting all their faith in literal magic beans.

They went all-in on services, all-in on NFTs, all-in on AI. Every time they’re convinced they’ve invested in a divine cure-all.

They believe in magic the way a child might. Except kids learn.
